みんなさん こん晩は!
I’m a Canadian living and working in West Tokyo.
I started (trying) to learn Japanese about 4 months ago,
and got bogged down by the myriad of resources, trying to decide on the ‘best way’ to learn etc.
Often people would tell me “I bet you’ll pick it up when you get there.”
Well… at my workplace we speak English 98% of the time. I’m currently a Kindergarten Assistant at an International School. I have not picked up anyth
“Surely you will pick up some Japanese from your students.”
As my students are 3-5 years old I’ve learned such exciting phrases as おしり パンパン
along with various words for poops and farts. So I guess I have that going for me.
I currently do kickboxing as well。
It would be nice to know what my instructor is saying aside from そのままそのまま!
I find most textbooks horribly boring and lose interest almost immediately, though I’ve managed to muscle through 1/3rd of Genki without stabbing myself in the face.
Thank you for reading my autobiography.
Next time we can discuss my childhood insecurities etc.
GOALS!
Make new friends by smashing the language barrier!
Understand wtf my instructor is saying.
Help my ESL students more betterer!
Not be that Gaijin who after 3 years in Japan only knows how to say トイレはどこですか?!
Challenge (and destroy) the JLPT tests!
THANKS.
