@Yggbert – it’s possible… I’d say table of contents is only about 60% finished in terms of how it’ll look / work by the time we’re done with it… so if enough people thought that was useful, definitely could make a comeback.

@sissyharu – I’ve tried adding search a few times… things break, though :( I’d have to ask somebody a little more code-savvy. There’s conflicts between some things that I’ve never been able to figure out.

@Mark – I made the dashboard alert way more beautiful now, I hope you enjoy it!

@Firequill – Hashi’ll look into that… it could be a font choice issue on our end too…

@Huw – I’ll be sad to see the variety and selection gone as well :(

So far, sounds like table of contents is the main complaint?

Okay, I’m going back to adding in the new kanji mnemonics stuff, brb!

    whoops, missed one.

@Winterpromise – what browser are you using? those (except the fugu) should be clickable.

Thanks for your update Koichi and Hashi!
    It looks neat so far.

Then I saw, the new downloadpage – it’s exactly what I dreamt of :-D

I’m working at season 2 now, but I was kind of ahead learning Radicals and Kanji.
What’s your recommendation on the Anki decks for Radicals, Kanji and Kanji Vocab?

    a) dump the old decks, starting new ones TextFugu all new super easy peasy Kanji 2012, etc.
    b) get rid of the old cards and replace it by the new packages
    c) just import the new downloads in the existing decks

Unfortunately I didn’t find really a hint on
    http://www.textfugu.com/2012/01/under-construction/

Do you also plan to change the Voca- and the Sentences-decks?

    Thanks

    P.S.
I prefer your new purple pink alert ;-)

As I’ve mentioned a couple of times in the past, there is a search function, it’s just well-hidden. Scroll to the bottom and hit “Profile”, then in the page that pops up, click “Topics” or “Replies” on the sidebar (which one you click will change whether it returns the results as topics or replies). Then the search box is on the right-hand side, above the list of topics/replies.

Koichi – I’m using the newest version of Opera. I’ve found that I can click on the icons but it requires clicking my mouse in the exact center of each icon. It’s very picky, because if I don’t center it exactly right, I can’t click on anything! It’s probably just my browser and I’ll get used to it. ;)

On the iPad, it takes two clicks to activate those links. I suspect hashi’s already noticed, though. =)

@Joel I would just like to let you know how awesome you are! I’ve never noticed the search through the Profile. It’s so much better than searching via Google.

@Koichi I’m digging the updates and I love, love, love the radical and kanji pages!

@Joel: You can only search for your own posts/threads. So if there was an interesting thread that you never contributed to way back when, then the hell are you going to find it. Also, it’s quite out of the way, not very user-friendly. Or maybe if you posted a lot to one thread, all in a row, you’ll have to sift through pages of replies to get to the ones you want, THEN you have to go onto a page of the desired thread that you probably didn’t want to be on. Basically, it can work, but it just can’t compare to a PROPER search function.

Well actually I think it got something to do with there being “topics” and “reply” filter there. On the “reply” part I am only able to search threads that I have participated myself, however on the topic part I can search for all the topics on forum, wether I have participated on them or not.

Still I think the search part of the forum should be improved. Seems the last change made me forget how to get to the profile again, luckily there is a tutorial for the link to get there :p

In the table of contents on Season 1: Chapter 8 if you click on pages 2, 3, or 4 they send you to the wrong pages. Might be other sections like it as well.

@Michael: It is a verbatim search but it will show all matches from everyone. If you search ‘about these textfugu changes’ you would have no results (you may now because of my post but…) yet ‘about those textfugu changes’ or ‘textfugu changes’ would have listed this thread in the results. I tested this beforehand and while I hadn’t posted within this thread it was listed among the results, oddly it was the second result.

There are three aspects to this site; the front end (the main area of textfugu), the back end (the admin/profile area) and the forum. The backend is tied into the forum but the front end is not. You can edit the search to include the forum database and then use the built-in search function to search the entire site, forum and all. It’s a bit of code editing but do able.

Yah, did you actually try it, Michael? I thought it was just a search-your-own-posts function myself when I first discovered it, but when I actually ran a search, I wound up with results from everyone.
