Most of the changes sound positive. Interesting to see what new features Anki 2.0 will bring. I’m about to begin Season 3 so hope that all the vocab and kanji I’ve learned so far doesn’t get rearranged too much.
May 15, 2012 at 10:41 pm #30839Hopefully – it was awkward having to “unlearn” then learn some of the radicals that changed earlier this year.
May 15, 2012 at 11:08 pm #30840I should have known another overhaul was in the works. Season seven was clipping right along with lessons coming out about roughly pace we were told they would be, then it stopped. Although, if the update includes the loads of content mentioned, then it will be worth the wait. We’ll have to wait and see.
As far as Anki 2 is concerned, it’s really not all that different. There are a few new features (and a lot of new terms) but, for me at least, switching has made no profound difference.
May 16, 2012 at 2:30 am #30844Hoping to have finished Season 3 by the time the new update rolls out. I like the sound of new forum features too. It’s something we need here since the last update.
May 16, 2012 at 10:23 am #30852Well this is a bit disappointing, I’m fine with the site how it is to be honest and would prefer new lessons. I’m not that bothered but it does seem a bit of an odd choice to me, then again I thought the site was fine during v1!

To be fair the lessons are being done, just not posted. So when it releases theoretically you would have more lessons than the current pace it was going at (I think). That’s if season 7 is actually finished when v3 comes out.
May 16, 2012 at 12:58 pm #30861It says in the post:
– Will include all of Season 7 (that’s a lot of new lessons)By that, Season 7 must be near complete or complete and he’s just waiting to roll out the new update before publishing the new lessons.
May 16, 2012 at 12:59 pm #30862At first I thought “ANOTHER site redesign?! WHY? XD Making it look prettier again won’t help people learn any faster. And what’s this? “I won’t be adding new lessons while I finish this up”? BLARGHOIHOSDIFHVLIHEOUFPHWUFHIEWJFBUFHSSSOS!!!!1″
Then I saw that new content was actually part of the update and it wasn’t just about aesthetics, so I thought “Ooooooohhhhh…” :D
Hopefully this “Advanced” section will actually allow me to start using TextFugu again :D The only trouble with it is that he says it’ll be handled by someone else – isn’t the whole appeal of TextFugu that it’s written by Koichi? I mean if they can copy his style of teaching, I guess that’d be fine, but it wouldn’t quite be the same.
FORUM FEATURES?!?! Hot diggity! :D *fingers crossed for search bar/image embed/video embed*
“Separate blog”? But TF already has one, doesn’t it? http://www.textfugu.com/blog/
EDIT: While having a sift through the blog, I noticed in the post “Here’s What 2011 Looks Like” one of the goals was “Finish up the “Core” content”: “Three plus seasons were written in 2010, so it makes sense to finish the other three (planned) seasons in 2011″ (for any of you that are newer here, Seasons were different back then)
That’s just hilarious XD Seemed a reasonable goal at the time, but now we see just how unrealistic it was…- This reply was modified 12 years, 7 months ago by MisterM2402 [Michael].
May 16, 2012 at 1:14 pm #30864WHO SAID NEW FORUM FEATURES?! For once I will actually care about an update. I would be surprised if somehow the lessons caught up with my current grammar knowledge lol.
edit: looking through the textfugu content for the first time in a few months, there really hasn’t been much progress – surprise lol

May 16, 2012 at 6:32 pm #30880I’m a little confused because I thought we were already using version three. There used to be little “v3″s next to the lessons once they were redone. This was when I decided to start over again since I hadn’t studied in so long, and kind of refresh on the basics.. And I waited till I saw a v3 next to lesson before going over it. Then the site changed again and they disappeared. Is this really version 4 now? Not that it makes a big difference…
=^..^=May 16, 2012 at 7:24 pm #30883Having no new lessons for around 2 months (if the June prediction is correct) is pretty annoying though, I’m so glad I’m not paying monthly right now.

May 18, 2012 at 7:48 pm #30947I thought I’d post this in here since I didn’t think it warranted a new topic. What happened to sentence decks? I’m in the beginning of Season 4, but I thought sentence decks were going to be a great way to tie together vocab, grammar, and kanji for that lesson. Is there a reason for their absence now?
May 18, 2012 at 9:03 pm #30948@tripmaster – I’ve just started season 4 too and noticed this.
I just browsed through all of season 4 & 5 and there doesn’t seem to be any more sentence decks.May 19, 2012 at 12:39 am #30951Maybe there will be more sentences once the new update has rolled out. I think Mr. Koichi might be holding back a few surprises for us :)
May 19, 2012 at 6:12 pm #30970It’s more work, but you can pull the example sentences off the site and put them in your anki deck (audio and all). It’s pretty much the same as the sentence decks, just takes more time.
