So did anyone else begin school or will be beginning it soon?
What are the side effects to your Japanese?
Mines: 1.I haven’t been learning as many kanji, which is to be expected, right?… 2.I feel more motivated even though I’m doing less, who knows why… 3.and my urge to write a mystery novel is increasing… odd…Overall, I have less time, but it’ll do… Can’t wait ’till winter… (Surprisingly, it can get pretty cold in Monterrey, Mexico!)

August 23, 2011 at 3:12 pm #16093Starting college on Monday… if Hurricane Irene doesn’t knock Florida off the map. yesiloveexaggerating.
August 23, 2011 at 3:19 pm #16094Got about a month till I star my first year of University (Freshman year of College, for all you Atlantically-challenged folks). If it turns out I don’t get much time to study Japanese, I’m gonna try switching to one of the “Everyman” sleeping patterns, to get a few more hours in the day hehe.
August 24, 2011 at 10:01 am #16157I’m gonna start 8th grade too in September. I think my homework load is gonna make my time for Japanese go down the drain. I think I have to start waking up earlier to cram some Japanese before school. xD

August 26, 2011 at 5:21 am #16348If you are worried about homework and not being able to study because you don’t have time, I can’t stress how much you must start taking immersion very seriously. Literally just find an alternative Japanese version for just about anything you can. Just about all the kids in my high school who claim to “learn Japanese” said that they were “too busy” which is a bunch of bullsnit because I was just as busy as they were yet I still did Japanese pretty well.
Another important thing and this just applies to life in general is the consistency of studying Japanese/immersion. It may seem chill to study for 9 hours one day and not do anything for the next 4-5 days but I think you can create consistency with immersion. Because you will just be staring at crap you don’t even understand so you will be looking up stuff most of the time – thats also pretty much studying right there too
August 26, 2011 at 6:11 am #16349To add to missingno15′s post: alljapaneseallthetime.com – go there and read his advice on immersion. He explains how he did (while he was studying at college/university too).
