Hey guys! I’ve been trying to get some live Japanese news streams on my iPad so I can watch them and practice when I get ready in the morning, but so far everything I’ve found has been in English (hello NHK World News! I love you, but you’re in English). Do you know of any sites or services I could use? I’d even pay for a subscription, but I really can’t seem to find anything useful out there.

Don’t know of any live streams, sadly (would be interested to find some myself) but if it helps, NHK has Japanese-language news on Podcasts you can download (no video though, just audio). They have a new one every day. You’ll need an iTunes Japan account to access them.

Apart from that, the only other thing I know of is Keyhole TV. I’ve managed to catch a few news programmes off of that whilst channel surfing. It won’t work on an iPad though.

it’s not live, it’s 1 hour delayed. But it also backlogs every important channel’s entire day of broadcasting for the past 10 days.

    NTK TV

It costs, but it’s also a legitimate (legal) service. Every hour, the past hour of broadcasting is uploaded. Just pick the channel, then pick the time and It’ll stream (windows only) whatever aired at that time.

If you pay a lot of money, and when subscriptions open up again, you can also try

JP player (Don’t have link, will update soon)

Any channel, live streaming, usually a very good connection. Costs a kidney and 2 inches of spleen.

    There’s this: http://www.youtube.com/user/tbsnewsi/featured
It’s not live, but they upload several videos every day with up to date news. Most of them are short, but you can watch them one after another from their playlist.
Best of all, it’s free. :) Hope this helps.

Edit: Forgot to add that you can also turn on the Japanese subtitles if you want to keep up with your listening. Makes things a bit easier, too.
