& take pictures of them & post them here & then eat them
i understand that japan doesn’t really have a distinctive dessert type & they take a lot from france, but i’m pretty sure you know what i meani want to do this because
1. i like making desserts
2. i like eating desserts
3. i sometimes run out of new ideas to make.
4. i think people like looking at pictures of foodSO IF YOU HAVE ANY IDEAS HIT ME UP
some of them may take some time for me to make depending on when/where i can get ingredients and whatever.
also, i will probably make anything else (that isn’t a dessert) as long as it doesn’t involve meat. (i hate handling meat is why)so if you like to look at pictures of food i will be happy to oblige!
BUT MAYBE THIS IS A DUMB IDEAMay 16, 2012 at 2:38 pm #30870Sounds fun! Don’t have any ideas right now but will post if I do.
May 16, 2012 at 4:56 pm #30877It definitely sounds like a fun idea! Sorry I don’t have any suggestions, but I’m excited to see what you make!

May 16, 2012 at 5:05 pm #30878oh i’m glad it’s not such a stupid idea! if/when nobody has suggestions i’ll probably find a dessert in some show or something!
May 16, 2012 at 6:22 pm #30879Green tea mochi ice cream. My fave. :)
=^..^=May 16, 2012 at 7:02 pm #30881How creative do you want to be?
Dorayaki is easy to make and you can sub Nutella in for the filling if you want.
Taiyaki is another standby too.
If you’re feeling adventurous then daifuku mochi is tasty, and if you just make mochi then keep in mind mochi + microwave = OMG it’s huge!
Dango is one of those things that the kids have fun with. You can mess with it as much as you want really.
If you like jello then Yokan might be of interest, better yet coffee jelly!
Although not really a desert I like melonpan, bread meets cookie. :)
To start off might I suggest something that can be a bit easy but really the key is presentation; Christmas cake. Might go good with that ice cream above ;)
May 16, 2012 at 7:13 pm #30882YAY i’m so happy! i’ll post them as i get to them. :) keep the suggestions coming, if you want :)

May 17, 2012 at 12:58 am #30890I’d love to se メロンパン(melonpan) made *¬* It’s one of the things I miss the most~!
May 17, 2012 at 4:47 am #30894Actually last week I tried making some Japanese sweets for the first time.
I made some ohagi おはぎ, imagawayaki 今川焼き, and doraiyaki ドライ焼き.
They were rather easy to make, but the imagawayaki was a bit of a pain to do it well. I don’t have a proper mold, so I tried using a muffin try on my stove… didn’t work as well as i’d hoped…

http://tinypic.com/r/xarimv/6
okay so I’M FEELING REALLY INSECURE ABOUT MY STRAWBERRIES
they are much too big ;-;
also my presentation is buttpoop but PLS IGNORE this thread is also partially for bettering me at such things :)May 17, 2012 at 6:33 pm #30919Hey, where’s the ice cream? :P
The strawberries may look big but isn’t that what everyone fights over?
I always hate being wasteful when trimming the top curve of the slab. Ya, it’s a flat top and makes a cleaner edge after but it just feels wasteful. Maybe I just need to discover what to do with that ‘extra’ bit, lol. I can’t really tell, are your centre strawberries right to the outer edge? I put mine right to the edge because I like the colour and a bit of strawberry in every bite, but that’s just me. Christmas cake can be done so many ways but the really important question is ‘was it good?’
MMmmm… melonpan…
