I’d like to see Portugal vs. Germany in the final too. Spain have had their glory and it’s always harder to retain a trophy when winning it straight up. I think that will play on their minds. It’s now or never for C Ronaldo to pull his weight for his country.
Germany are like a well oiled machine. How they haven’t won anything since Euro 96 is surprising. Italy did well tonight but I can’t see them upsetting Germany.
No one can blame the media this time for England’s failure. This has been the first time in a while where the expectation has been low. Roy couldn’t of picked a better team. I feel this is as good as it will get for England. When the players play with international team mates at their clubs, they do well. When they get together for the national side, you can see they just aren’t good enough.
June 24, 2012 at 4:02 pm #32294I was hoping for England to win so I could see Germany rip them apart again. I’m part German so I choose to support them. They’re very entertaining!

June 26, 2012 at 7:11 pm #32334@ kman – Yeah, finished ‘i’ adjectives, ready to move on to the next lesson (a lot of vocab in those adjective lessons!). How’ve you found the adjectives?
I missed that Japan/Australia game, sounded pretty crazy, especially when the ref wouldn’t let Japan take their free kick at the end of the game…just bizarre.
Prediction time…who will make the final and what will the result be?
I say Spain/Germany…2-1 to Germany, partly out of hope!

I’m still on the i adjectives. I know around 33 of them by memory so just need to remember the remaining 9. I think I’ll just kick on with finishing the two chapters on them. Na adjectives were easier in a way, maybe because there were less of them to learn. This has been the toughest chapter I’ve been on as I can’t finish without knowing a good amount of the i adjectives.Japan and Aus have a bit of a rivalry going on now. Those two are the best in the Asian confederation. South Korea aren’t far behind. Historically it’s been South Korea as Japan’s biggest rival but a lot of Japanese fans say it’s Aus now. Yeah, it sounded like a crazy match between Aus and Japan. The next time they meet is in June 2013.
As for Euro 2012 final, I reckon it’s going to be Spain vs. Germany too. Hoping Germany can win this time. Spain have been pretty average so far and aren’t even playing a striker in their starting 11.
June 27, 2012 at 1:14 am #32343Japan were great in the 2010 World Cup, they seem like a team on the up and up. I can’t remember his first name but some guy called Honda took a couple of great free kicks.

That’s Keisuke Honda (本田 圭佑). He plays in the Russian league for CSKA Moscow. He’s a fantastic player. Just need him to move to a better team and league.June 27, 2012 at 1:54 pm #32373That’s Spain in the Final. Pretty exciting game from what I saw. Ronaldo should of taken a pen in the shootout. Your best players should always step up first to take a pen, or you might be in a situation where it backfires like it did for Portugal tonight. We’ll never know if Ronaldo could of made a difference. Roll on tomorrow Germany vs. Italy.
June 28, 2012 at 1:13 am #32378This is looking like the German’s tournament judging by Spain’s pretty poor performance yesterday!
June 28, 2012 at 1:09 pm #32409Pretty suprised Italy got the win. Not saying they didn’t deserve it but Germany have been on fire. It’s a mystery how they stumble at the last hurdle every time. I think they could of beaten Spain on Sunday. With players like Podolski, Muller, Schweinsteiger, Ozil and Lahm, in their team, they are underacheiving. Credit to Italy and Balotelli. At least tonight’s game was open and both teams wanted to win in the 90 mins unlike England vs. Italy where England were playing for the shootout.
I think Italy will beat Spain on Sunday. Spain have been average this tournament and if they don’t step their game up, they will get a hiding.
June 28, 2012 at 7:59 pm #32431That was a pretty good game. Italy should have had like five goals, their finishing (outside of Balotelli) was horrendous.
Hopefully Spain will actually play on Sunday. Their game against Portugal was an absolute snoozefest until extra time. I’m fully expecting Balotelli to red card himself out (on purpose) on Sunday in some fashion. Taking off his shirt twice would be my bet.

June 28, 2012 at 9:41 pm #32436It’s fascinating how people have slowly gone off Spain’s style of play recently…even I feel myself siding with Italy in the final, although rationally it’s hard to see past Spain 1-0.
June 28, 2012 at 11:47 pm #32442Spain are missing something that they had in Euro 2008 and World Cup 2010. The absence of David Villa is playing a part. Del Bosque doesn’t feel confident with the Torres and Negredo so has opted for Fabregas to play in that role. Their playing extremely cautious too and not their usual free flowing attacking football. They have the chance to make history on Sunday which is also playing on their minds.
On Sunday we’ll either see the real Spain turn up or the cautious coy team that’s played so far. As for Italy, they have a chance. Balotelli could either be a hero or a zero with his antics.
I’m predicting Spain to win in a pen shootout.
July 1, 2012 at 2:41 pm #32628Spain certainly did show up and saved the best til last. They battered Italy. At the same time, they made history four times apparently, 1) biggest scoreline in a final, 2) back to back european championship wins, 3) only team to win the european championships three times and 4) only team to win three major tournaments in a row.
Italy simply weren’t good enough. Would of been interesting if Germany had got to the final instead. That’s what makes football a strange game.
Nice to see Mata get some game time and score. He’ll develop into a world class player in a few years.
July 1, 2012 at 2:50 pm #32631Spain were the best side and whatnot.
However, I am finding myself moving further and further away from their style of play….it can be beautiful to watch, but lately it’s just been a huge grind-fest… -
