> You’re really flying through all these books
Reading is fun!
November 4, 2011 at 10:22 am #20457The more words I learn through Core2k, the more I feel like I’m never going to learn this language… at least when it comes to reading. Haha, shouldn’t it be the other way around? xD
I’m gonna stick to it, because I still believe it’ll get better once I have a bigger vocabulary – kanji are still a major pain, though, even having finished RTK. While I recognize the words I know no problem in the Core sentences, in the “wild”? Not so much. Not like I’m going to give up, but it’s a bit discouraging…
November 4, 2011 at 3:29 pm #20494“The more words I learn through Core2k, the more I feel like I’m never going to learn this language…”
Is that akin to “the more I learn, the more I realize I don’t know”? lol
I’m still catching up on my Anki reviews. Listened to another jpod lesson. I am still trying to get to Bakuman tonight but I’m quickly running out of time today. I am determined to start the first volume this weekend!

November 5, 2011 at 6:57 am #20525Heh. Lots of progress all over the place, nice, or not nice… :)
I am just starting negative nouns on the website :)
Hardest thing so far was…getting Anki to work. lol.
The language is easy, getting a set of card installed into another set, such a pain! Don’t worry, I’ll get it! ;)November 5, 2011 at 8:04 am #20526I finished up the chapter about purpose and did a lang-8 entry today. Even though I went ahead and used alot of grammar that I don’t know very well the outcome was pretty good, with fewer corrections than I had thought. Most mistakes were pretty obvious, so I think that I should spend a little while longer correcting it myself before posting it :)
1 lesson behind with kanji, will try to catch up this weekend :DNovember 6, 2011 at 1:10 am #20550Lately I’m focusing on the ultimate adjectives, nouns and verb lists, reviewing all decks on Anki and making some progress on Read the Kanji’s JLPT1 decks. Have been writing series of random sentences every 2 days and sticking them on Lang-8 which is really helpful, got an awesome explanation about sentence structure from someone on there.
I really want to get the ultimate lists down so I can focus on grammar a lot more, and kanji. Kanji is amazing.
November 6, 2011 at 3:34 am #20553Still working on kanji, all of the JY list memorized, +(~) 1,000 more. For some reason, I have built a systematic way of memorizing kanji. Now, it’s all I want to do, when I should really probably be focusing on grammar again. Bwah.
November 6, 2011 at 8:28 am #20556Finisehd yet another lesson today, and 10 new kanji :)
I am now halfway through season 5 :D I have to start planning where to learn after I finish up textfugu…November 6, 2011 at 10:00 am #20560Just started on the 2nd Kanji lesson…37 new ones, that will take a while to memorize, strawberry smell or not! ;)
The text was referencing it, but I couldn’t find a link to them telling me to go learn them…
Or I am blind or it’s a mistake in Season 2…hmm, I’ll look again…November 6, 2011 at 4:03 pm #20564Oh I totally missed the part where it says you are meant to do the ultimate lists while going through the chapters. I think that might cause information overload so I’m just going to focus on the lists like I have been today.
November 6, 2011 at 6:43 pm #20566Finished the 2nd verb chapter today. There are so many of them! Also been trying a lot of “immersion” techniques. I don’t know if it’s “working” yet but I sort of like it. I only have a couple chapters left of Season 3, exciting!
November 6, 2011 at 10:44 pm #20572November 7, 2011 at 5:56 pm #20630I’m pretty excited because I will be spending a few hours with 5 native Japanese speakers later this month, I think it’s a guy and 4 girls but I’m not too sure, they are all studying at a university quite close to me. Will be speaking to them in both English and Japanese, since they want help with English too!
If I get on with them all well then I might try and make it a regular thing, especially if they want me to help them with English more.

November 10, 2011 at 6:48 am #20689I have added 1 group to all ultimate decks, learned 20 kanji and finished another lesson :D
And posted on lang-8 :)- This reply was modified 13 years ago by マーク・ウェーバー.
November 10, 2011 at 2:30 pm #20704I just finished step 2 of Core2k which means, that I should know around 400 Japanese words by know.
… It doesn’t really feel like it. But I know I’m making progress. It’s just slow as heck.
Also, finally resumed my TextFugu study. Love how Koichi explained the verb groups in casual verbs chapter – I read about verbs before and it seemed very complicated… Koichi made it look like the easiest thing in the world!
