Hey guys, been busy in the US so I haven’t been that active. I can’t study all the time here but I did bring some copies of Gundam Origin which is a bit thick so should last me a bit longer. My DS with some Japanese games too. (名無しゲーム seems good)

So I’ve finally got some free time for at least a few days. Went straight to my anki reviews. Had 500 to get through and did it in blocks of 20 over 2 hours. I was pleased in a way as I was able to retain 90%  of everything. The things I had forgotten were recent Kanji vocab I had learnt before taking a break.

While studying my vocab I came across 時計。 I searched it on google just to help me remember it and ended up finding a wonderful app, 美人時計!

I have it on my phone now and think it’s quite awesome. Most interesting way to check the time I’ve ever had lol.

I’m getting more comfortable thinking and writing in Japanese. It’s still very hard and full of mistakes but it’s not as painful a struggle to write a Lang-8 post or think random things in 日本語。

Haven’t really studied per se, but I have been trying to tune my pronunciation. Specifically, I need to work on my pronunciation of ください.

I don’t usually admit to being good at something in Japanese, but one thing I’m proud of is my pronunciation, which I feel safe in saying is almost “perfect” (or at least, quite good), but I always get tongue-tied when saying ください.

So far, I have to say it very slowly and haltingly and it sounds out of place with the rest of my speech. Otherwise it keeps coming out as “kuthasai” with a soft D sound.

Very annoying, but it gives me summat to work on. Getting my pronunciation to be as perfectly-tuned as my inferior gaijin mouth can manage and destroying any trace of an accent is a high priority for me.

My N2 日本語総まとめ Set arrived just now from White Rabbit. Only 2 days shipping (Meant to be a week). I also got some squared paper books for trying to get my Kanji neater. Looking through I’m excited to start on them, though was a bit disappointed that it still has furigana on some Kanji.

I found this at the front of my Squared paper books, just a simple guide to stroke order. I already know this well but I’ve seen people ask again and again so follow this guide and you should be able to figure it out. Order of priority:

I’m going to seem so newbie, but I’m still studying the hiragana kana. I can be a slow learner sometimes. Just starting the dakuten :)

@bvoncrumb – yeah, i had those book for N3 last year. They were pretty good. This year I went with a different one for my N2. So far seems rather well organized. I’ll post pics later. it’s nearly 2am here…

I started using iKnow to learn more vocab. It’s a neat site and is definitely more fun to go through than Anki though the words tend to repeat a lot. I gave the Brainstorm game a try which is also great though I was hoping for some sort of end boss after getting enough words right.

Also found this news site which is conveniently available in both Japanese and English which means a great opportunity to practice and confirm right away how poor my understanding is haha.
