Ooh, that’s a lot of corrections. But then it’s a lot of writing, and the second guy said he was specifically correcting heavily. How long did it take to write? And how come you’ve been slacking off?

When you basically understand more or less everything you hear and read given the topic isn’t related to a special field like the Mandart inellipse, I think you’ll be the same. Probably 30min to an hour or more.

AKB48 aren’t going to learn English for YOU, you know ;)

    gotta love particles

Even though you complain about a lot of mistakes, when considering how long of a text you made it really isn’t bad. I think you would benefit from writing on lang-8 more regularly ^^ You learn a lot from making mistakes.

“More or less everything” isn’t good enough, get back to work!

I really need to get back on the lang-8 treadmill. I never study after coming back to the States. Although currently, I have been writing a fair bit of Japanese to my old JET supervisor since I was supposed to get a bunch of money that I paid into the pension system back and never did. His assistance in this matter has bee less than exemplary.

I reached 100.000 reviews in anki the other day ^^ (only including reviews from core 2k, 6k and self made decks)

Nicely done :D How long do you spend on cards a day? I’m probably just quite slow, but that number seems to take me forever to do. Also, how far along 6k are you now (if you haven’t already completed it, can’t remember if you’ve said).

My Core deck says I’ve done 55310 reps in 587 days, but the majority of that’s been in the past year (39201 reps in 337 days). The overall number for Anki would higher since I had TextFugu and RTK decks on there way back. I also did 35697 reps in total over on Koohii, but I’m not sure exactly what length of time that was in. Definitely doing more reps recently and adding more cards than I have done in quite a while, so maybe that number will shoot up over the summer ;)

According to anki I spend 41min/day but I think the only reason it is so high is because it tracks time even while I do other stuff with a deck open. Currently I only have around 100-150 reviews a day which takes like 10-15min :)

After doing like 1/10 of core 6k I stopped adding any new cards. Instead I made my own monolingual deck where I add words I don’t understand.
The reason that I stopped core 6k is that there are too many words in it that aren’t relevant for me and aren’t even part of any level of the JLPT. Making my own deck enabled me to only add words I want to memorize and thus making it much more relevant and rewarding to study in anki. When adding words yourself you are also certain that you understand the context it is used in, and if it is a monolingual deck you can learn a lot by looking up definitions etc..

My monolingual deck is only at like 500 words though, so it is not like I have been very busy adding words. My main focus the last 6 months has been to get my reviews down to a more manageable level, 200+ a day is too much, and trying to make it more rewarding to study Japanese by focusing on understanding the things I like to do in Japanese.
