    Hey there!

I’m learning Japanese through TextFugu and having a blast so far. I studied Japanese for a semester in College but didn’t do so well, so I thought I’d start fresh here and so far, I’ve been loving it and making good progress.

I have a trip planned to Japan in May for two weeks and was wondering if there were any additional resources I should look at to supplement TextFugu to prepare myself for traveling? If I put in consistent effort each day, how will my Japanese be by the time of my trip? It’s roughly 5 months away and I’m on season 2 currently.

Any tips would be greatly appreciated, thanks!

    So envy. Send us photos.

Honestly, you should be fine. Maybe see if you can get a pocket phrasebook for handy reference – if nothing else, it’ll let you focus on learning the bits you’ll need most as a tourist. I went to Japan for two weeks in 2010 before I started learning, with just the phrasebook, a few half-remembered words, and charades, and I managed just fine. Mind you, I might have saved some money if I’d understood the station announcement on the first night, or else had the courage to go ask someone directions…
