Hey all! I am pretty new to Textfugu, I’m in the middle of season 4 right now and I’m hoping someone can help me out. I’m also doing Wanikani, level 4 currently. So, when I’m studying the adjective vocab and the verbs I am having trouble memorizing them for some reason. I love the way it is done on Wanikani with the mnemonics, and that has really helped me. So I’m probably going to have to come up with mnemonics for the vocab I’m having trouble with on here. My question is, has anyone come up with any for themselves they wouldn’t mind sharing? Or does anyone have any other tips to help learn them?

My tip: remember that each verb refers to an actual action that people do in the real world. It’s too easy to get stuck just staring at the words on the screen, which gives you nothing concrete to anchor the meaning to.

What I mean is, don’t fall into the trap of just going “Well, 走る means ‘run’, and I know what ‘run’ means”. Actually think of the act of running when you learn it. Eliminate the English middleman, as it were.

Those い adjectives are taking me a long time to get down too. By contrast the Kanji seems much easier. I have no easy shortcut on learning them. All I can say is use Anki daily.

I also have a problem with the verb list from Season 3 (reluctant to move to Season 4 before I get them all down). Anyway, I think my problem was actually doing both at the same time Wanikani and Textfugu. There is so much happening in Wanikani that nailing this list down feels overwhelming. I decided to stop Wanikani until I have more free time from Textfugu.
