There wasn’t really a general section for new comers to the forum, at least not one that’s current. I thought I might as well just make a new one and let things roll.

I’m just starting out with TextFugu, though I’ve been working my way into learning Japanese for a while trying various tools. I’m still what I would consider a beginner, but I do have some basic knowledge.

As far as reasoning, I really would like to travel to Japan in the next few years, and jobs with fluent Japanese speaking requirements are a big motivator. I also really enjoy anime, Japanese video games, and Japanese music. I’d really like to take more advantage of these things, and really understand them better.
