    Hello all!

I just got the vocab word 大文字 (oomoshi) in WaniKani. The definition is listed as “upper case or capital letters,” which struck me as strange, seeing as how Japanese does not seem to have upper and lower case. Doing a Google image search revealed lots of pictures of GIANT kanji written across entire landscapes in fire or raised earth. Does 大文字 really mean capital letter? Or is it mean ginormous letter?

    Thanks!

It’s “oomoji”. And I’m fairly sure 文字 refers to Latin characters.

Oh, thanks, that was a typo :o Hm, latin characters… I suppose kana is the term for Japanese characters?
