Hey, aren’t you the person that made the duplicate music thread too? Have a look around the forum first before you go posting all willy-nillily, man :P

OT: My name is in my username and where I’m from was mentioned in the original thread, so yeah…
    ;)

Back when I joined TextFugu all those moons ago, I never made an intro thread. Firstly, nobody cares what I have to say, and secondly, I’ve not even got anything along those lines to say anyway haha :D

What you say is kinda true Mr. M, but I believe koichi when he says that it could help with motivation. He seems like a pretty smart dude.

Came here because it told me to in the first lesson and it was pretty interesting thinking about a real reason why I’m learning Japanese. The culture is cool and everything, and it would be nice to check out their literature, but that isn’t a strong motivator for me.

A year or two ago I lived in Santa Cruz, CA for a while and I had been searching for a martial arts dojo, and hadn’t come across what I was looking for after trying a couple in LA. I found a very authentic dojo teaching the Okinawan maysubayashi style karate and have been very motivated to make karate an ongoing part of my life since. I need to learn Japanese well enough so someday I can travel there and learn from the sensei in his/her native tongue.

Does anyone know how different Okinawan and mainland dialects are, if at all?

    Hi!

My name’s Amy, I’m from the UK, nice to meet everyone :)

I’ve been doing budo tai jutsu (aka ninjutsu) for about 5-6 and will hopefully be going to Japan to train at the end of the year, so I’m learning Japanese to get the most out of training and hopefully not look too much like a tourist while I’m there!

Feeling very much like a shiny newbie right, but looking forward to getting into it.
