Wait..
wait wait wait. So you’re telling me… you let your interests…be determined by the other people who are generally interested in them? You sound worse than the actual weeaboos. Instead of standing up for things you actually like and creating your own image, you go and hide in a corner lest you be associated with them?
I just went through your post again and it seems not once did you actually mention anything about anime itself. Well here’s the problem. Why don’t you give up Japanese as well? Because to be honest, the stereotypical image pretty much applies for Japanese learning as well.
June 9, 2011 at 8:54 pm #12406Not only is this thread great… but the op makes a wonderful ready made copy pasta to drop into a running thread on some otaku message board. Make sure you bring popcorn!
June 9, 2011 at 8:56 pm #12407Sheepy does have a point here… Sinister I do believe you’re taking these fans a bit too seriously =)
June 9, 2011 at 9:28 pm #12409Hell I put off learning Japanese seriously for like a year because I didn’t like the association, but I decided If I was serious enough I wouldn’t have that problem, and I haven’t had it so far.
Why not try and change the image by not giving a damn and just doing what you want? If people have a negative view of you because of what you like, then screw em.
June 9, 2011 at 9:39 pm #12410@Mister. Dude, I don’t have much to say about your comment. Other than, you f***ing rule, my friend. You made my day *cough*desu*cough* :)
@Missing. Yeah, I guess it has a lot to do with my being partial to being ‘crotchidy’ :) My having trouble being polite, that is. That picture, had me rolling, my friend!
@Kevolar. Thank you for not exploding on me. :)
Also, I did write this out in a fit of Luxan hyper rage, so as mentioned above, if I was a tad abrasive, totally not on purpose.@Lemur. This is because you are winning, purhaps? :P Stay fresh man!
@Rachel. It is a rarity, but a beautiful thing when developed properly. Keep on being your bad self. :)
June 9, 2011 at 10:02 pm #12411@Sheepy,
No, my interests, are not determined by weeaboos. Their existance, only further detures me from anime. As per the reason, I dislike it (not only for the crowd it draws in) but for the overtones of childish and cartoony themes. I mean, sure there are a few, that are strictly meant for adults, but come on. Not to mention, it makes a tuuuurrible source for learning the language. Also, its more like batting them away with a stick, rather than to ‘hide in a corner’ to avoid their presence.
Also, also, its a bit too late to “put off”. Even if I wanted to, considering my pursuits in this field. (college, etc.)
@Narcoleptic,
Ouch?
yeah, probably…June 10, 2011 at 12:16 am #12414I think there are plenty of more mature animes. Also why not just enjoy anime and not interact with those people? You’re never forced to, to enjoy anime lol. I don’t think “oh its dumb and childish” is an excuse when theres a huge amount of stuff. Likes like only watching MTV and complaining music these days is garbage. (I hear this surprisingly often…)
Also anime for learning Japanese isn’t bad at all, that image also comes down to “weeaboos” who try to learn solely from animes without any context. Hell Khatz learned plenty from anime, and hes one of the more significant success stories. If you’re not an idiot you’ll be able to see where conversation pieces apply in cartoons and when they’re general language.

June 10, 2011 at 6:18 am #12425June 10, 2011 at 9:04 am #12443I can totally understand if you just dont like it, thats way more understandable lol
June 10, 2011 at 11:51 am #12452I believe we now have an understanding. :)
June 10, 2011 at 11:53 am #12453I suppose thats also, a less ‘beat-y around the bush-y’ way of saying it too, yes? Heh.

AnonymousReally… Really can’t handle the flawed reasoning in the OP post. So much too say… too much abuse…
June 11, 2011 at 9:34 am #12514@Crumb
