This afternoon I open my Anki desktop client and ALL my decks are gone. They are on the online version and my ipad but not on the desktop. I have tried uninstalling and re-installing but still not happening, despite the fact it has the right username etc. Anyone have any ideas?

Hmm that is strange. When you add decks to Anki, they are stored in a folder called “Anki” in “My Documents” under a user profile on the C drive or whatever the name of your main drive is.

In that folder you should see .anki files and folders with the media files in them. Check to see if that folder is still there?

Hm this has actually happened to me in the past but it was so long ago that I forgot what I did. Can you sync to the client from the server side? Do what kanjiman said and check your folders to see if the actual files are still there.

This happened to me and I remember what happened was my antivirus had removed all the files. Apparently my antivirus which is Webroot recognized Anki as a spyware program and removed it including all files. So what I had to do was allow the program as an accepted program under Webroot, then I had to reinstall Anki, then finally reinstall all decks, since it automatically quarantines and deletes any suspected spyware or virus programs. Hopefully this will help you out.

Thanks everyone. Taking a mix of what you all shared here I got it up and running again.

@Megami How’d you end up getting it working? Just so I know for future cases of Anki explosion?
