Hey guys what are you up to this christmas/winter break?
As for me, I’m done with my first semester and literally failed all my classes :D. Next semester, I start Japanese 202 though! Also I plan to study the poop out of Japanese so I’m gonna be a year ahead of the class (as if I’m not already ahead of the class [and the class hasn't even started!「どや顔」])
Also, you may remember me going all emo and stuff earlier and the year but those times are over! Looking back on this semester, I feel more mature having the tough experience through life and I’m gonna use that to better myself and my grades for the next semester.
ALSO GETTING A !! GIRLFRIEND !! . WISH ME LUCK.

December 17, 2011 at 9:06 pm #22630Well, I winged my finals Thursday in hopes of passing and got B’s, which goes to show that paying no attention and doing everything last minute really does pay off :P. I moved to a new state yesterday and have been cleaning up and settling in all day today. Tuesday I have a job interview that I hope goes well.
Since, I wont be returning to school next semester I will have all Spring/ Summer to put a huge focus on Japanese studying :D.
@missing – Good luck with getting a girl, is she.. Japanese?! :O
December 17, 2011 at 10:40 pm #22633Hahaha you guys are hilarious!
Enjoy your winter holidays while you can…even though I only graduated a year ago, it feels like forever ago that I got a break lol. Oh and Missingno15, I’m sorry to hear that you didn’t do too well with your classes, but grades really are overrated anyway. All that matters is that piece of paper in the end…I know because I worked my ass off to finish with 2 majors and a minor and graduated sums cum laude…and I have nothing to show for it hahaha!!
I’m still a total noob when it comes to Japanese so I won’t embarrass myself with my slow albeit steady progress, but I hope you both are able to study lots and hopefully relax lots too ;)
P.S. Congrats missingno15 on the (soon-to-be I assume) girlfriend! :D
December 17, 2011 at 11:00 pm #22635Christmas break? There is such a thing? lol. Not once you’re out of school…
This week I’m working on a quilt that I’m trying to finish by the end of the year. I’m also going to attempt to start and complete a quilted table runner for a Christmas present for my mom. Attempt. ;) Oh, and I’m working on our Christmas luncheon menu and will be making pumpkin pie in advance. Fun stuff!
December 18, 2011 at 2:14 am #22645Over here, Christmas break is summer holidays. That said, I plan to find a job. It’s been nine months…

I never have exams in the winter ^^ So can’t say things have been tough. I will spend my entire winter holiday studying RTK, if I do 100 a day it will take less than 2 weeks :D Once done with RTK I need to find somewhere else to expand on my kanji knowledge, but I am looking forward to being able to tell the meaning of every common use kanji :)
TextFugu is done, so now I am stuck having to choose between doing textbooks or not. For now I have a few books on PDF, so I should figure out if it is something I want to do :DCongrats to everyone who finished their exams this year!
@Missing Well next year you know you will pass at least one class :PDecember 18, 2011 at 11:48 am #22650Oooh congrats on getting those exams out of the way guys :D So glad I saw the back of those things many years ago!
I have a couple of weeks off work for the Christmas holidays, so I’m heading back to my hometown for a while to catch up with my family and friends. It’s my birthday Friday too, so gonna be having a night out with friends for that…. can’t wait :D
Apart from the copious food and drink, I’ll be attempting to start RTK book one and keep up with my Anki reviews. Determined not to get too distracted!
December 18, 2011 at 11:56 am #22651Like every teacher in the world, after I fail all my students this semester, I’ll be spending holidays thinking of the ways I can make their lives hell next semester.
Nah, actually I’ll tie some loose ends I had after finishing RTK, pick up my pace with iKnow sentences etc.Good luck with finding the job ラリサ and Joel!
December 18, 2011 at 3:45 pm #22687Seeing family over the next week and of course on Christmas day, aside from that not too much planned, have a fighting game tournament (playing Street Fighter IV & Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3) on Wednesday which will be fun as always. Won’t be studying on the 25th but that’s the only day I’ll slack off, I think that’s fair! I’m meant to be going out with friends on Tuesday but I’m not sure if I’ll go because I’ve been feeling pretty sick the last 2 days. D:

Wait until you have kids… then it’s a time to be feared!
I plan on spending the Christmas season in an Aspirin induced haze… Seriously though, I’ll be planning my escape routes, thinking of the things I plan to do in the year ahead, and trying to spend some time with friends… where I’m sure we’ll be hiding somewhere from the chaos.
This is the time of year when I reaffirm that headphones are the greatest invention ever!
Can you hear me now…
…nope!
(hehe)December 18, 2011 at 6:44 pm #22701Well, the schools in jolly ol’ Japan don’t get a Christmas break but I do get the 29th through the 3rd off for 正月. I’ll be throwing a Christmas party at my house on the 25th (since it’s a Sunday) with the JETs in the area and my Japanese friends. That should be fun although there is much preparation left to be done.
I probably won’t be doing to much studying since my girlfriend is visiting from the States. We are talking about going to either Kobe or Izumo for New Year’s.By the way, it’s getting to be resolution time. For me, redo RTK1 at break-neck pace; 200 a day with the anki settings modified to space the cards out more since I’ve already gone through it once. Should get through in under 2 weeks. Then starting on RTK3. At 50 a day, it should take about 20 days. All the while sticking with reading practice + vocab building separately. My Japanese study has gone slack and I’m kicking it back into gear.
Also, I have to start saving money since I’m moving back to the States in August with no home and no job.
