I’d recommend using Wanikani alongside Textfugu. I’m just getting into season 5, and started using Wanikani recently. I like Wanikani a lot more than Anki, but right now there’s no way to jump ahead. Even though I already know almost all of the radicals, Kanji, and vocab I’ve seen in Wanikani, I can only get to the next level by doing a certain number of reviews, which come at set intervals. The order of things in Textfugu and Wanikani match up pretty well from what I’ve seen, so it’s going to take a while before I’m seeing much new stuff in Wanikani.

The first two levels are fairly substantial, so you should have time to decide whether or not you want to continue Wanikani before you need to pay.

Also, from what I’ve read, there’s going to be a big update to Textfugu, which will hopefully use Wanikani-like review in place of the Anki stuff. I think it’s been in the works for a while, though, so I wouldn’t wait for that.
