Yeah in general if you see the word in Katakana, it won’t have Kanji as it will likely be a foreign word or onomatopoeia.

In theory they won’t even exist in the new rewrite as the material will be completely different. So I would speculate that if they are still around they will be written from scratch. I guess it depends on how much of a true rewrite it actually is. Which he’s been a bit hush on.
Wow you guys make me feel inadequate. @_@
I use Evernote for all my notes and any writing I do, I use a BiC mechanical pencil or ball point pen on a piece of printer paper…

Yeah I also was given the choice between Spanish and French. Picked Spanish first, didn’t like it, switched to French and liked it even less. Though at least the Teacher’s aid in French was hot. Though that also resulted in me only ever learning romantic phrases to shoot at her any time she called on me to speak.
With Spanish I focused on nonsensical phrases that were technically correct but didn’t make any sense. Like, ‘The cheesy cat will be emperor until night falls.’ I liked language learning I just couldn’t be bothered to put forth the effort. If Japanese had been available it would have been a completely different story…

That’s an impressive list of languages. Did you learn Spanish while growing up or did you learn it later?

LOL, I would definitely say she was trying to be nice.
I’ve taken some TAFE courses and the majority of my classmates (the non-Korean ones) spewed forth some cringe worthy results.
Perhaps she means those who become more advanced though, as I haven’t met any non-Asian Australians who could speak Japanese well.

You’re basically focusing on the single hardest part of pronunciation (in regular usage). You’ll also note this is the hardest part for Japanese who are trying to learn English, as they essentially have to take what they consider to be one sound and divide it into two different sounds.
Unless you are currently living in Japan and speak Japanese near fluently, you really really don’t need to be worrying about this at all right now. As until you get to that point, you are going to have so many other things that will be wrong with your pronunciation that will make your accent stick out like a sore thumb, that you won’t even be aware of. In fact as an English speaker, if you are talking to Japanese, they will expect you to pronounce this wrong, to the point that in some ways it will make you more understandable if you do it wrongly than if you do it correctly, unless you are also good with everything else.
Losing your foreign accent is one of the last things that should be focused on when learning a language. As a teacher of ESL, I had this happen with so many of my students. They would focus so much on getting one small part of their accent more ‘English’ sounding, that really wasn’t that important, not realizing how horrible their accent was in other critical areas.
And yes you have to do it eventually, but it shouldn’t be focused on until more important things are taken care of, and you’ll find that once those other things are handled, you’ll likely pick it up without even needing to try, at least much.
TL;DR: Yes, it will be fine. ^_^

Sundar said… The top part is もってますか meaning “do you possess” and since 警戒心 means ‘wariness’ I’m guessing it’s just an advertisement for a place to rest
floe said… I would have simply translated it as ‘Are you cautious?’ ‘Are you alert?’. No idea how likely it is, but could it be that this is directed at road users to be watchful when driving?
