Hi! I am an 18 year old from the flatlands of central Oklahoma. I am attending Stanford University in beautiful Palo Alto, California, in the fall, where I intend to double major in mathematics and Japanese. Before starting TextFugu, I had zero experience learning Japanese. I did not want to start college-level Japanese without any experience, and that desire eventually led me here (and I'm so glad it did!). Thus, I am currently using TF to build a strong foundation before college starts, and I plan to incorporate it and other online resources into my "formal" Japanese studies once it does. I intend to study abroad in Kyoto during my junior year, but hopefully I will be able to visit before that. I am strongly considering attending graduate school at a Japanese university, but I hope to work in Japan even if I don't. As for more personal information, I love watching anime and Japanese films and listening to Japanese hip-hop (Nujabes, Shing02, etc.). In addition to enjoying Japanese culture, I like to read, hang out with friends, and learn about anything (though particularly about math, physical science, and Japan). I also have a deep, deep love for the band Modest Mouse (check them out! and not just Float On!!) and my Pekingese life-partner, my dog Toby. Anyways, I am open to talk to anyone, whether it be about Japanese or not! :)
