Oh, we’re all here in secret. Hiding in wait and counting each passing hour, hoping for the almighty crabigator to extend his reach onto TextFugu
The only reason I ever still visit here is to see if Koichi posted an update or replied to a thread, which is rare.
I always believed you pronounced it as “Jya-arimasen”
Nice to meet you John.
I am also located in Alabama; to be exact, the Mobile area. Glad to see someone around these parts partakes in these activities.
Welcome to Textfugu! It’s a work in process as-is, Koichi is currently working on updating it but has no ETA for when it will be released. It has great beginner chapters though, so you’ll have plenty to work on.
WaniKani is also a great resource to learning kanji and vocabulary.

Welcome back to Textfugu! I’ve been away quite a while myself doing various things for study, but have finally come back myself.
I really want to study/learn Japanese simply for the fascination of all of the different characters. I figured there are so many variations of Chinese, why not just go for the singular Japanese language? Plus, all of those added bonuses such as the culture, the anime, the tourist spots, and more. I really like it, and even though it sets me apart from my friends, it’s one of the best things I’ve considered as a hobby.
I’m merely a Junior in high school, but have been studying for a year now. I plan to visit Japan when I graduate my senior year (I’m currently working as well).
I suggest you visit Aikibujin’s threads to use with TextFugu that will help.

Welcome! It’s always great to have new members! (Even if you are returning)
Welcome! I’m glad you took the opportunity to learn Japanese! good luck on your travels, if you need anything don’t hesitate to ask! :-)
Wow, Thanks a ton for this Aikibujin!
I literally quit Textfugu for a while because all of my Anki decks were jumbled up into huge ones, with some mixed up that I haven’t even gotten to yet. I decided I should just start WaniKani, get to level 8 or such, and come back while hopefully knowing most of the material. With this, I’ll get back started tomorrow it looks like.
I wish he would update the site regularly, sounds like this project is just dying now.
That makes me really happy to hear that, @Gustav Dahl
Thanks for summing it up! and I don’t think Koichi does reference the pronunciation, but you can slightly tell by the audio clips. ありがとう。
Man, I really wish Koichi did update this site regularly. I do still to intend to finish all of the lessons I can learn here first, then go onwards. It is awesome that he is making WaniKani and EtoEto, but he really should reinforce the beginning where most people start.
Ahh, thank you so so much, Michael! :)
Awesome, I appreciate the feedback. I’ll do all my radicals/kanji/vocabulary on WaniKani and listen to all of the lessons/work here :) thanks!
