Ooo, Chiba. That’s pretty much just around the corner from Tokyo. =P

Welcome! It’s great that you’ve got a plan for going to Japan. I wouldn’t mind one of those. =P
Welcome! Doesn’t exactly sound like you had a terrible time over there. Manage to get much sighteeing done in your four months of “bumming around”?
I worked in the library when I studied at uni, but when I tried looking for a real-person job in a library, they all wanted me to have a Library Science degree. Bah. I’ve only been to Japan the once also, but in my case it was just a two-week holiday. =)
Welcome! What are you doing in Japan? And where in particular are you?
Welcome!
Hi.
Short and to the point, hey? =P
Welcome! Grammar tends to come in handy when using a language. =P
Welcome! That’s not overly silly. =)
Welcome!
Had a feeling the New Years sale was the reason for the sudden flood of new members. =P
Welcome! I’ve studied mechatronics, myself, though I’m not presently doing anything at all to do with robots. =P
Welcome! That’s a fairly lofty goal, though you might find it tricky to get a job at a Japanese corporation – unless the job requires speaking English, companies tend to prefer a native-speaker over a foreigner…

Welcome! One trick with living in Wales is that if you ever want to say where you’re from in Japanese, it’s ウェールズ, which is a tiny bit fiddly to both write and say. =P
I’ve been working my way through a game in Japanese, myself – 二ノ国 for the DS. It’s been a fair while since I touched it, admittedly.
It’s a font thing – some fonts have the hat, some don’t. A number of other kanji have similar differences, like 入 or 人. It’s not a huge issue in this particular situation, because you’ll never be in a position where you have to recognise the difference in the wild – ハ never appears as a kanji in its own right.
Welcome!
