My advice: take some awesome photos for us. =D Also, focus your attention on what going to come up most often. Small talk and social niceties. Local place names in kanji. Types of shop – and maybe even their names. How to ask directions on the street – and how to understand responses given to you.
There’s no issue with long chains of nouns joined by の, though it could get confusing if it’s too long. For example, 風の谷のナウシカ = Nausicaä of the Valley of Wind. エリオットさんの弟さんの日本語の先生 = Elliot’s younger brother’s Japanese teacher.
Fun fact: most colours are い-adjectives.

Xと同じ = “the same as X” – there’s not much more general I can be than that, because it’s a fairly specific application. The particle と indicates that it’s reciprocal – she likes the things you do, and you like the things she does. If you wanted to say that it’s not reciprocal (though I couldn’t think of any examples for 同じ that wouldn’t be) you’d use に instead. There’s also と同じぐらい which means “about the same as”. こういちさんの日本語能力は私と同じぐらい – “Kouchi’s Japanese ability is about the same as mine”.
Similarly,
Xと違う = “different from X”彼女は私と同じものが好きです
Don’t get confused by the fact that English uses the same word – it’s got about a thousand different meanings. Other words have similar problems.
No, they all refer to the picture. Which, incidencally, is a mandarin, whatever Koichi says. =P
Yeah, it’s very rare that readings are interchangeable. Your best bet is to learn the vocab, and the readings will be learnt as a result – don’t try to learn the readings in isolation. Once you’ve got some vocab under your belt, you’ll start being able to intuit the readings of words you haven’t seen before.
Once you’ve got some kanji under your belt, you even start to be able to intuit the readings of kanji you’ve never seen before.

What exactly is “on Google”? If you mean Google Translate, I’m pretty sure that’s generated on the run by a computer, so I’m not sure I’d put a great deal of faith in it (though it’s usually fairly good).

Youroshiku! (<– don’t even know if I spelt it right in Romaji, but Romaji isn’t a big deal here right? hehe)
While it’s true that you’re encouraged not to rely on romaji all the time, when you start using an IME (which you should do) the usual way to write in Japanese is to type it in romaji. “Yoroshiku” doesn’t have a U after the first O. =P
(There is also a method that maps the hiragana characters directly to keys on the keyboard, but unless you have a very good memory, or feel like writing tiny labels for all of your keys, you’re probably not going to be using that.)

thank you! That makes much more sense. I think the ordering of how these counts are presented just tricked me a bit.
Don’t worry, it tricks everyone – Koichi teaches 一人 and 二人 first, but never ever mentions that they’re the exceptions, not the rule.
