You are welcome, my Scandinavian friend. I’m from Denmark.
Thank you.
For all new kanjis and vocabs I use a memorization technique. It takes a little time to get the new stuff to memorise under my skin but I remember the far most, and it takes much less time to learn them than with traditional memorization. It’s the same technique used by the masters in memorization competitions.
It is explained in a book by the awesome Norwegian dude Oddbjørn By. The book is called “Memo-the Easiest Way to Improve Your Memory”. It explains everything you need to know about memorization.
He have written two other books about the subject (which I’ve read) but I don’t think they are translated to English. “Memo-the Easiest Way to Improve Your Memory” is the best and most updated one btw.
I could explain it to you but it’ll take long time for me to write and it’s the authors livelihood. You can find out more about it here
http://www.oby.no/frontpage/?lang=enin Japanese they’re called 五段 (ごだん) and 一段 (いちだん)
Is 五段 う-verbs and 一段 る-verbs?
そう思う。
@MisterM2402 Both Tae Kim and Genki starts at a level for (nearly) totally beginners, so I think they both would be at an appropriate level. It’s just about finding the chapter where the stuff I don’t know begins. Or have I misunderstood something?
I would continue using lang-8 btw.
I was actually planning to start this topic when I am through TextFugu but I’ll just jump on this one instead as it’s rather relevant for me too.
I have an additional question which could help you find out what to do.
To which level will Tae Kim and Genki 1&2 take one?
I think I would pick the one that could take me most advanced level when through.
After going through Tae Kim or Genki I would begin to look at the advanced stuff on imabi.Tobira sounds very interesting too.
As I think of it, the を indicates what thing is affected by the verb. So if you see the word you can ask what is “verbed,” and the を will give you the answer. Okay this didn’t make sense. If you have the sentence すし を たべました (ate sushi), you can look at the verb (たべます) and ask: What will (you) eat, and を gives you the answer which is すし. If we say おとうさん に 一万円 に かしました, we can ask what did you lent? を answers 一万円.
に works the same way just with another question. Here you just ask the question to what(or who or where) did you do the verb? So if we say “おとうさん に 一万円 に かしました” again we can ask: To what/who/where did you lent 一万円, and に gives us the answer おとうさん.
Please correct me if I’m wrong.“hey this bag of sugar could also be referred to as さとう”
But…but… さとう doesn’t mean bag of sugar, it means sugar, just. ahh. not “sugar, just.” I mean just sugar. Just without the “just.” So… This is what I mean: さとう means sugar.
Do you also label you labels with レッテル?I’m not sure if I understand you right but I think it is okay to forget how they seems as long as you can recall them when you see them. You only have to remember how they seems when writing them in hand.
Read this article to get what I mean.
http://www.tofugu.com/2010/08/27/kanji-amnesia-and-why-its-okay-to-forget-kanji/Hey thank you. I just wondered the same. I’ve just added a sentence with が多すぎる to my anki sentence deck.
I don’t like those forums because they’re confusing and the Crabigator scares me.
Ahhh. So that’s why so many people over there don’t use the forum.
-Someone who is definitely not Eihiko. Not even a little bit.
You should mail Koichi and tell him to get fixed the bug that makes Eihiko’ name appear on under your name.
