What does「だけ持」 mean?
Welcome to Textfugu! Writing Kanji is difficult for sure. I don’t think I will be learning to write that until I feel comfortable with the rest of the language…so several years from now haha.
Another gothic girl that’s pretty good. Perhaps not as consistent as Kanon though.

I’m looking at reviews of A Dictionary of Basic Japanese Grammar and it looks like this is also a great book to buy.

Where’d you find out that Effective Communication is re-releasing? I was thinking of getting it soon but if there are a lot of changes to it I will wait.

So I was watching Kaiji and some big numbers came up that I decided to take a crack at understanding.
One number I heard is にひゃくごじゅさんまんごせ which turns out is 2,535,000.
I was surprised it works out that way since 1,000,000 = ひゃくまん so I was not expecting the ひゃく and まん to be so far apart from one another. Is this how it usually works with larger numbers? Where it’s like saying 2,530,000 + 5,000?

I just did this and I logged myself out by accident. :DYeah, from what I’ve heard so far it has tones only as much as English does. Like in English you don’t use the same tone of voice when you ask a question as you do when you make a statement even if the words being said are identical.
Words in English are also full of weird pronunciations with different emphasis on certain parts. There are still plenty of times when I mispronounce English words when I should know better. <.<
Seriously, bologna is pronounced "balonee"? I know it's an Italian word but that just seems so…off.
Or what about "toMAYto" versus "toMAHto"?-

Yeah, work feels so much more productive/useful squeezing some studying in haha.
I was doing the number readings at my retail job for awhile too but decided to focus on learning kanji+vocab on my phone instead.
At the office job, I’m in front of a PC all day so I use that.Aww man, 妖精帝國 does everything I like in music. New song, just as awesome as the rest.

Yeah, that confused me the first time too. 一人(ひとり) is just a weird pronunciation if I remember correctly.
七人(しちにん) actually makes sense because both are on’yomi readings.I’ve been hooked on Yousei Teikoku since the first moment I listened to their music. This is the one I like most:
