That’s a really good feature – I wish Anki had had it when I first started studying, however! Because I’ve already consolidated all those little piecemeal Anki decks from TextFugu into the one big deck the way it was done before the 2.0 upgrade, whenever I add new decks using the drag-and-drop method you described above, of course I only get sub-decks for the newer stuff and not the stuff I downloaded from TextFugu before the Anki upgrade. Practically speaking, it’s not all that bad, because I have all the earlier stuff nailed down to the extent that I won’t ever really need to go back to those little (now consolidated) “sub-decks” individually…but aesthetically, seeing nothing from before “Basic Nouns 3″ under my Vocab deck makes me cry inside a little. (“Why can’t I have Basic Nouns 1 and 2 as sub-decks too? Boohoohoohoo…”)
For that reason, I’m sticking with the slightly more labour-intensive method described in post #35868: importing the cards as a new deck, opening the deck in the card browser and moving them to the “home” Vocab deck that I use. Even though I would like to have the sub-deck functionality, I’m so preoccupied with order that I’d need to have it for all of the decks I’ve downloaded rather than just the ones I downloaded after the Anki 2.0 upgrade. I can’t think of any way to do that without re-downloading all of the little TextFugu decks and losing all my scheduling and review data. I’m not even out of Season 2 yet and that would still be more trouble than it’s worth…
*sigh* There’s always going to be a little pain with a big upgrade like that was…still happy I upgraded though. The sync feature is way better than it was, now that merging syncs are possible and now that I can sync the sound files to Anki on my iPhone without having to use Dropbox… :)
A lot of the links on the lesson page seem to be messed up for me. They are seemingly linking to random lessons.
This. I clicked on a link from Season 1 in the Lessons menu and it took me to a page in Season 5. I was like, “whuh?”

Glad to hear you’ve decided to really take it on! I’m new here too and I’ve been um-ing and ah-ing over it for a little while now. Got to stay motivated! Grrrr!
