Hi Alex, nice to meet you!
I almost took up learning Russian instead of Japanese, since I was also looking for a language that differed from the Latin-style writing system. I ended up choosing Japanese because I have a friend from high school who is fluent.
I look forward to seeing you around the forums; よろしくおねがいします!
I was growing up in Russian family, but I don’t like Russia or Ukraine and the most I hate Russian people that shouting “RUSSIA IS THE BEST COUNTRY, USA WILL FALL ON THEIR KNEES” even when Russian culture inferior to any other country. Actually there is no big difference between Russia and Ukraine, Ukrainian people are 70% Russian because of russification. Russian language is a bit hard for foreigners, though I don’t see any sense to learn Russian today, this country will suck soon, you’ll see it. They want to build communistic society like China did, but they didn’t took into account the fact that Russia is dependent of Europe’s and USA’s technologies and products.
はじめまして! TextFuguへようこそ〜
My friends are also studying Japanese, it’s very encouraging.
Try not to overwhelm yourself at first or you may feel discouraged. Persistence is key to learning!
Huh, I’m not overwhelming myself, just trying to do my best.
Also, how long it’ll take to speak Japanese well enough (maybe just for non-formal conversation on any topic)? 2-3 years or more?
