^Reminds me of Rob Lowe’s character in Parks & Recreation.
That is literally the best comparison I have ever heard.
Just FYI, if the changes to the content are disrupting your study that much, shoot Koichi an email (koichi@textfugu.com) and hash it out with him.
Same goes for me when it comes to technical issues with TextFugu.
An email to me or Koichi usually goes a lot farther than a forum post.
Hey Tyler, welcome to TextFugu! Our friend/co-worker John also went to OSU and complained about the textbooks that you guys had to use. But I’m sure that year in Japan will be the best thing you could possibly do for learning Japanese.
I’m glad that we caught your attention so quickly, and good luck with your studies!
February 1, 2012 at 12:57 pm in reply to: Has anyone else been experiencing problems with Google Chrome on Windows lately? #26198Viet gave me a nice long list of Japanese fallback fonts to include in TextFugu, so I threw those into our CSS. I booted up my virtual machine to test in Linux (Ubuntu 11.10), and everything seems to look okay there.
Thanks a ton for all the help, shoot me an email with your address and I can send you some sweet fugu swag.
And everybody, please let me know if you have any more problems with the site.
February 1, 2012 at 11:56 am in reply to: Has anyone else been experiencing problems with Google Chrome on Windows lately? #26189I thought our generic
serif
/sans-serif
would fix that, no? In any case, I’ll try adding the Meiryo font as a fallback, thanks for the help!EDIT: I’m also still not quite sure why this problem only seems to happen on Windows XP and Vista, but not Windows 7, any insight into that?

February 1, 2012 at 11:07 am in reply to: Has anyone else been experiencing problems with Google Chrome on Windows lately? #26180We’ve also been receiving some feedback that since the redesign, people have had problems reading Japanese text on TextFugu with Chrome. If you guys have any problems like this, please email me (hashi@textfugu.com) and let me know.
Hey Paul, welcome to TextFugu. Your career sounds pretty exciting, what sort of things do you do at a newspaper? Are you a writer, editor, photographer, or something else entirely?
Good luck with your studies!
Taken out for you :)
Hi Dilemma, welcome to TextFugu! Good luck with your studies :)
@huw It will also encourage consistency with other, yet-to-be-announced TextFugu projects :)
@Firequill: I’ll take a look at the Chrome issue when I get home to my Windows computer. The problems that you’re showing us in that screenshot aren’t happening in Chrome for OS X, so it might not be a Chrome-only issue.
@Joel: We’ve been noticing weird behavior on the iPad too, and are working on fixing it.
@thisiskyle: We’ve had particle pages for Text/Tofugu on the back burner for a while now, it’s definitely something that’s on our radar.
I agree with you that the menu still isn’t perfect. The problem with having the TOC in the header, and the reason why we made this change, was because you had to load the entire TOC, pictures and all, for every single page on TextFugu.
The TOC is so much information, so we’re still trying to figure out how to balance showing you what you want to see as easily as possible with hiding all the information you don’t need. Needless to say, it’s a tricky balancing act, and we absolutely think that it could be a lot better.
And we’ve heard a lot of request for a bookmarking system, but to be honest, I’m not sure how we would implement that either.
Hi Miguel, welcome to TextFugu! Good luck with your studies!

Hi Marvin, welcome to TextFugu! I really enjoyed reading about your motivation, good luck with your studies!
Hi Bec, welcome to TextFugu. I’m not familiar with what a Civil Drafter is, what is it you do at work?
