羽　is used as a noun for “wing” while 羽根 is a noun for feathers.

According to anki I spend 41min/day but I think the only reason it is so high is because it tracks time even while I do other stuff with a deck open. Currently I only have around 100-150 reviews a day which takes like 10-15min :)

After doing like 1/10 of core 6k I stopped adding any new cards. Instead I made my own monolingual deck where I add words I don’t understand.
The reason that I stopped core 6k is that there are too many words in it that aren’t relevant for me and aren’t even part of any level of the JLPT. Making my own deck enabled me to only add words I want to memorize and thus making it much more relevant and rewarding to study in anki. When adding words yourself you are also certain that you understand the context it is used in, and if it is a monolingual deck you can learn a lot by looking up definitions etc..

My monolingual deck is only at like 500 words though, so it is not like I have been very busy adding words. My main focus the last 6 months has been to get my reviews down to a more manageable level, 200+ a day is too much, and trying to make it more rewarding to study Japanese by focusing on understanding the things I like to do in Japanese.

Haha yeah I get those sometimes as well. It is pure BS, and 1000 words ain’t even close to conversational fluency lol. Even knowing 10 times as many words I would argue that you can’t say your are at a “conversational fluent level”, but more like at a pretty decent level where you’d understand most words in normal conversation.

It can be used to convey an explanatory tone in your sentence for both males and females.

It will sound very female if you just add の, while most males will say のだ（んだ）

However, だ can’t be added in a question since it declares a state of being, so in questions the use of の is not gender specific.

@Mister – regarding burnout

All you need to do is to find something that interests you in Japanese so you will using all your spare time immersed in Japanese while having a lot of fun. Before you can do that you do need to be at a pretty high comprehension level though.

What you are saying about intensive study is very true though. If you study very hard every day at some point you will end up not wanting to continue at some point. Though almost happened to me after studying very intensively for JLPT last summer. I had over 500 reviews every day and spend at least 45min doing reviews every day. It was painful and there wasn’t much fun in it. After the JLPT I decreased the amount I study but increased the amount of time reading/watching Japanese media in my spare time. This made it a pleasure to study Japanese again ^^. When doing JLPT this winter I will probably be studying like crazy again knowing myself though.

Don’t worry. Even people who have been studying for many years mess up particles ^^ While books are great, and explanations of them can help, it is only by seeing them used that you will figure out the subtle differences in use.
