    If you want, you could try out wanikani for a while…. I find that it helps me remember kanji/radicals/vocab better because you actually have to type in the answer….

    And on an unrelated note, I’m not sure whether 亀 or カメ is in more common usage.

    Can I trust the jisho.org? (http://jisho.org/words?jap=&eng=turtle&dict=edict&common=on for common word,
    http://jisho.org/words?jap=&eng=turtle&dict=edict for all)
    Would アオウミガメ be better?
    I also want to ask, is there a better online Japanese dictionary or am I just not able to fully utilize jisho out of naivety?

    は is also incorrect, because a question word can’t be the topic – it’s gotta be が.

    O.K., so は emphasizes what comes after and が what comes before , so then by “question word” did you mean ですか? (because I was thinking you may have meant だれ instead)…. Is it が because it is emphasizes ‘who’ (because the person wants to know who is the turtle)?

    これは = This is [something] – for example, これはコンピューターです = this is a computer.
    この[noun] = This [something] – for example, このコンピューターはうるさいです = this computer is noisy.

    So given your examples, would ”これはコンピューターはうるさいです” = “this is a noisy computer”? Or would it translate into some unfortunate unhappy, such as “This computer this noisy” or something else nonsensical…

    @MisterM2402

    Instead of これは, say この to mean “this computer”.

    Wait, so what is the difference between これは and この?
    By this I mean more so, could I still use これは and it would mean pretty much the same thing as この?
    (in other words, is この just a faster/more natural way of saying ‘this’ than これは, or is it something more?)
