Nice to meet you too Dennis!

Shallow reason? Nah, I don’t think so, it’s still worth something if it can get you to invest in a useful skill. Quite a few Textfugu-ers even decided to tackle good ‘ol Nihon-go head on because of games/anime/manga as well, so no need to feel awkward here. I proudly count myself among those ranks too (SMT:Persona ftw!!). It’ll be quite a while before I can even begin to grasp an untranslated Japanese game, but I am making good progress.

Gaming music, you say? My cell phone playlist is choking with those. XD Any favourites? Mine tend to include SMT:Persona, Shadow of the Colossus, Okami OST’s etc. Anime OST’s tend to get in there too.

Well, hope you can play (and understand) an untranslated Japanese game in the future!

Don’t we all? I think it’s safe to assume that at least half of Textfugu-ers joined because of anime/manga/games, me included. XD

Anyway, hello there and welcome aboard to Textfugu. I hope you find more reasons to love Japan as you learn more about it. =)

Sorry for the late replies, life kinda got in the way and made me forget…
@Missingno15: I see, thanks for the tip, it might be useful later on. =)

@Marvin Fox: Thanks for the words of encouragement and also the rant. =) I’ll think about your experiences the next time I feel like this as a pick-me-up.

Hello back to you as well! =) I understand your pain, sometimes I miss alot of what’s going on thanks to the little guys down there.

Yotsuba and SotC FTW! I loved Yotsuba’s simplicity and SotC’s OST.

Well, hope you gain something during your stay at Textfugu!

@Hymnia: No problem. As for the other question, you could try re-downloading it again. Or, if the problems still persists, try giving a shout to Koichi. I’ve a sneaking suspicion that a sentence was just left out.

@Vanandrew: Most probably they haven’t, since Koichi should’ve mentioned it if they did. I can’t tell for sure since I haven’t yet started bumping into them (long story short, sentences were introduced when I was quite far in the textbook). Anyway, if you need more definite answers, the ‘Contact’ button is just at the top of the page. =)

I’m no Anki expert and I don’t use WebAnki at all, but you could find your answer somewhere in here:
    http://www.textfugu.com/bb/topic/how-to-use-anki-like-a-g/
    or
    http://ankisrs.net/docs/FrequentlyAskedQuestions.html

If not, you could try asking Koichi. Hope you find your answer. =)

I think this happened not because of hardware issues, but because of the updates Koichi’s been rolling out recently.

In the past, there could’ve been more radicals to learn since stroke-one kanji were just lumped together. Since the latest update though, Koichi said that only radicals relevant to the kanji you’re learning next would be learnt i batches as you go along.

Read the note just above the radicals. =)

Nice to meet you Marvin and welcome to the Textfugu train.

One of my goals was to actually each English in Japan, but after hearing from a relative about Japanese preferences for Caucasian teachers, I pretty much gave that dream up for dead. I’m now considering becoming a Chinese teacher (those years of suffering under the Confucian education system…-_-) or a translator.

Sorry about the rant, I tend to do that…Anyway, may you build a better relationship with your family and make more friends! =)

The Kanji Vocab should stay single for now, or at least I think it should. It would be a headache if I wanted to import updates to the deck or re-organise the deck. Not to mention that the review ticker would shoot up to eye-popping levels.

Benvenuto to Textfugu, Marco Nioi! I hope I’m doing that right…XD

It looks like we have the same reasons for learning Japanese. I agree, it’s hard to focus on the show when your eyes are always at the bottom of the screen.

Anyways, I wish you luck and perseverance in learing Japanese. =)

Hm…I don’t really get what your post was trying to convey but if you’re stuck with 3 different Ultimate decks (Adjectives, Nouns and Verbs), I recommend creating a new deck titled ‘Ultimate Vocab’ (not to be mistaken for Kanji Vocab).

    Next:
    1) Export (Open deck>File>Export) each individual Ultimate Deck (tick the ‘include scheduling info’ as well) to another folder.
2)Import (File>Import) them into the new ‘Ultimate Vocab’ deck.

If there’s anything else or if I missed the mark with my answer, feel free to ask. =)
