Welcome Vincent
@ andrew
The free one is a real gem. Although I can’t refer to everything on it, it’s going to come in very handy.Hello and welcome to the forums. I think all schools should start teching languages from as young as possible. It’s the best way to get them to adapt to different cultures. I’m sure your son will be quite proficient in a small amount of time. Good luck to yourself too.
@ missing
Sent you an email with my Skype id. I’m usually logged onto Skype 24/7 but I’m afk at times. The episode of AKBINGO I saw was titled AKBINGO! 120704 1/2. Seems the uploader has now made the video private. I saw the same thing gigatron did, so It was probably the same episode we watched.
@ Giga
I did the very same thing yesterday. As I said in the study thread, it’s a win win situation as you get listening experience and look at beautiful Japanese women at the same time :DThat’s awesome Hashi. I’ll wait for the Tofugu review before 100% deciding on what to do. By the looks of things, these cheat sheets could be the best purchase along with a TextFugu membership.
I’d love to have a restaurant like that in my town. Annoying you have to spend money every time you want to speak to them, but ultimately you will get the most benefit from it.
Glad to help out. Learning from each other makes this community the best I’ve ever been part of.
@ giga
Nice work there. I hope you get more opportunities to speak to Japanese people. I can’t in my town as there’s no Japanese people here or any connection to Japan sadly. On the subject of AKB48, I took the plunge to see what they’re all about and watched an episode of AKBINGO http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cOhT1RQwb7s.
It was actually pretty good. The women are beautiful and I was able to read and recognise a few written and spoken words. So a win win situation :)
Hello and welcome to TF. I’m not much further ahead of you but I’ll give it a shot:
その じてんしゃ は 安全 じゃありません でした。 That bicycle is not safe. = should be ” that bicylce was not safe”
ともやくん の うたい は きれい でした。 Tomoya’s singing is pretty/beautiful. – should be “tomoya’s signing was pretty/beautiful”
あの 人 は きれい でした。 That person was beautiful. = should be “that person over there was beautiful”
あの いしゃ は いじわる じゃありません でした。 That doctor (over there) is not mean. = should be “that doctor over there was not mean”
ひろゆきさん の せんせい は がんこ ですねか? = don’t think you really need to put both ね and か in there as when you put ね in a sentence, one of it’s uses is asking for agreement which is basically the same asking a question. so dropping か from the sentence would make it translate as Hiroyuki’s teacher is stubborn, isn’t he?
あの いしゃ はなし 、 ぼく は げんき でした。 = not sure if はなし can be used to say the word ‘said’. someone else on here is bound to know though.
Also, there may be a case for using が instead of は as you’re identifying the things in those sentences. I agree about using Google Translate. It’s ok for single words and very basic sentences, but not ideal for longer complicated ones.
Yeah a digital version is in the works but I suspect he’s concerned that people will just upload them to different sites and share amongst each other, and won’t really make a profit on them. He must of put a lot of time and money into these so for now the safest way is to only provide the physical copies of them.
The original free cheat sheet is still available to download in digital format though.
Thanks for sharing :)
Looked again at the info Koichi posted about the upcoming update and more practice is one of the main features. So by that, I’m guessing more sentences will be made to go with Season 4 onwards.
His long term plan is to eventually stop using Anki and use a built in srs. As for Kanji learning, at the moment there’s Kanji on TextFugu and WaniKani (although still in alpha, it will grow over time). Both should be consolidated into the one. WaniKani looks fantastic so far. Using Anki does get dull at times but is still reliable.
Yeah no more sentences decks after sentences 15 on season 3. I’m hoping this new update adds more sentences after each lesson. I’ve also been making custom sentences decks using examples in the chapters.
I reckon that may have to do with the expectation that’s placed upon him each year. He’s Britian’s best male tennis player and the last time a British man won the mens final was back in 1936. The media don’t help at all by piling the pressue on him. They write articles with headlines such as “Now or never for Murray”, or “Murray destined to win”, and try to motivate him that way, but it backfires. In the post match interviews, Federer even said he never reads the papers, which I think helps his game tremendously.
Murray started the match brightly, but the turning point many feel was when the rain started falling which meant the roof had to be used. That pretty much changed it to an indoor match which Federer loves playing.
On TV this morning, they mentioned that not every British fan is behind Murray and his connection with them is questionable. After the game and when he began speaking on mic, I think a lot of them felt sorry for him when he just let it all out.
He definitely has the potential to win a grand slam and has improved.
