    @ andrew
I read in the media, Sergio Ramos and Gerard Pique don’t get on and there’s some tension between the other players from both sides. Saying that, Iker Cassilas and Xavi seem to be good friends. It comes down to being professional and uniting when they’re together for the national team, but trying to kick each other off the pitch during the El Clasico’s haha.

When there’s only three long serving managers left in the Prem, that shows how club owners want immediate success and aren’t willing to wait. As for Rangers, I think it’s harsh they’ve been kicked out of the SPL. Sure, they should be punished for choosing an owner who ruined the clubs finance, but ultimately it’s the fans that will suffer. I think points deduction or a transfer ban would of been sufficient.

The breaking news is Robin van Persie says he won’t sign a new contract at Arsenal. I have two views of this. First is how infuriating the club is run. They try to run it like a business than a football club. It seems the only ambition is to finish above Spurs each season and make the top 4. That just isn’t good enough and it’s no wonder the best players end up wanting to leave. David Dean should never have left. The current set up is run by that muppet Gazidis and Hill Wood. With unambitious men like them in charge, the club won’t progress.

Secondly, although he had an amazing season last season, he’s 28 and has been injury prone in the past. Who knows if he is able to replicate that form again. The team is too reliant on him scoring goals. The team needs to play like a team and not just rely on one player. This could end up being the kick up the backside the club needs to sort itself out, or it will lead to more misery. If he goes, the club have to reinvest the money.

I think he’ll go to Man City. They can offer higher wages and better chance of silverware. Extremely frustrating being an Arsenal supporter.

人 is the kanji for person. It has two on’yomi readings にん and じん. It’s kun’yomi reading is ひと.
七 is the kanji for seven. It’s on’yomi reading is しち. It’s kun’yomi reading is なな.

When it comes to numbers, they usually have one on’yomi reading when your just counting in general. eg. 1, 2, 3 ,4, 5 etc. and a kun’yomi reading which is used for stuff called counters. However, the numbers four and seven are slightly different.

Four has two on’yomi readings し and よん plus a kun’yomi reading used for counters. When counting in general you can use either し and よん but for certain numbers like 40, 400, 4000, only よん is used. For counters, both is used. You will have to learn when which one is used unfortunately.

Seven has one on’yomi reading しち and a kun’yomi reading なな used for counters. なな can also be used to count in general. Like with number four, なな is only used on certain numbers like 70, 700, 7000. In some cases しち is also used as a counter. Like with four, you will have to learn when which one is used.

The numbers nine and ten have two on’yomi readings but only one reading is used for general counting and the other on’yomi reading is used as a counter. They also have a kun’yomi reading used for counters aswell.

As for your question, I recommend reading this article on Japanese counters http://www.tofugu.com/guides/japanese-counters-guide/. Counters can get very confusing. In some cases it’s easy to work out the reading of a counter, other times you have to learn the exceptions.

As for your question. The general counter for counting people is にん. e.g. So to say three people it’s さんにん, five people ごにん, six people ろくにん.

七人 じゃありません means it is not seven people. This is a sentence about counting people. On this occasion it doesn’t use なな, it uses しち.

一人 (ひとり) is the counter for one person. It can also mean alone. It doesn’t use いち or にん. So saying いちにん would be incorrect. Fortunately the counters for one person and two people are the only exceptions.

一人 でした can mean two things. It was one person, or (I) was alone.

Apologies for such a long reply but It was easier to explain it in full. If you have any more questions, don’t hesitate to ask.

Andrew: It does seem like something is missing.

Couldn’t help but wonder was that an intentional pun or purely incidental? lol

I’ve noticed there’s quite a fair number of UK members now. Is there any official stats Koichi has detailing where all the TF members are from? If not, we could do a poll and see the results that way.

I still reckon most users here are from North America.

I agree that he had no way of knowing two players would get injured including one of the subs. The point I was trying to make was, he might regret his decision to try and change the game, instead of accepting it was already over and not to concede anymore. That’s football for you. He took a gamble and it didn’t pay off that time.

On another note, interesting to see AVB become new Spurs manager. I wonder if he’ll be given more time there or will his reign end the same way it did at Chelsea?

Haha, I probably wouldn’t like to live there then, but would definitely visit. The whole Caribbean looks like paradise. Anyone other famous Barbadian’s other than Rihanna?

I can imagine. I prefer urban surroundings, but going to a place like that for a vacation is worth it.

    @ Andrew
It was panic tactics used in the spur of the moment. Looking back, he probably would of brought on the subs later. As you say, Spain still would of won.

Isn’t it telling how there’s divides in the Spain camp, mainly between the Real Madrid and Barcelona players, yet they can put that aside and win a tournament. But with Holland, it destroys all team spirit and they fail to even get a single point.

I agree, but that rule could potentially be abused and a player could feign injury if he’s on a yellow card or just playing badly. It’s the same situation with a sudden death shootout. There’s not really any better solution to end a match other than to have penalties.
