The husband Kanji is from the 4 stroke set. The radical for husband should be in the radicals 4 set but doesn’t seem to be. Quickest solution would be to manually add it in yourself. There’s no audio for the radicals so it’s just copy and pasting. Nice spot. I’ve noticed a few mistakes with these anki decks such as missing audio and wrong meanings and readings.
Hmm that’s strange. What is the radical you’re referring to?
On the TF な adjectives list, the 4 that end with an い are きれいな, きらいな, ていねいな, ゆうめいな.
The radical anki decks come after you finish a set of kanji decks. I can see upto radicals 8 on season 7.
Good point crumb. Immersion in Japanese music, tv shows, movies, etc. will help for the things the books can’t teach and will improve your listening and speaking skills. For explanation of grammar points and why you’re learning something the way it is, studying is essential. A combination of both is the best method.
Armando raises an interesting point too. Tweaking AJATT your own personal way could be more beneficial than Khatz’s way. His posts do have that motivation factor in them too.

The Chinese restaurants here do awesome food too. Kinda pricy though. Once the new update is rolled out, the Season 7 lessons might be expanded. Guess we will have to wait and see.@ Mark Webber
Good luck with the JLPT. What level are you taking? I bet your flying into Heathrow? That sounds as boring as the town I’m in. I live in a small town, mainly a coummuter town but there’s a few businesses. Closest thing here to Asian culture is the Chinese restaurants and takeaways.
Hello and welcome to TF
Welcome to the forum
Ah, Birmingham. I’ve passed through their once a long time ago. I’m in the South of England in West Sussex. I can relate about it not being exciting.

Knowing kanji will definitely help with learning Mandarin. Written Chinese has two scripts, simplified and traditional. People say it’s easier to learn traditional first then simplified. Kanji seems to be a mix of both simplified and traditional. Mainland China uses simplified script, Taiwan uses traditional and Hong Kong and most overseas Chinese communities use Traditional too.I pretty much have the same goal as you. Knowing both Japanese and Mandarin will look impressive on a CV/Resume.
Btw, are you from the UK? I seem to remember you said you were in another thread a while ago. If so, which part?
@ Yggbert
That’s awesome you want to learn Mandarin after Japanese. I plan to do that too. Good luck with everything.@ Gigatron
I’d continue to listen even though you don’t understand much of it. This will be beneficial to you in the long term. You’ll surprise yourself one day when you’ll be able to undestand most of what’s being said. It won’t harm you in any way. Another way to look upon it is like this, when we were younger and first learning to speak, we were listening to conversations we didn’t understand. Gradually over time we pick up more words and the ability to get better at speaking. Doing that with another language when we’re older, we already have an advatange in a way.@ Scorpion
Your welcome. Personally, I wouldn’t follow any of it, but there maybe some methods of AJATT that are ok. Everyone learns in different ways, so what might not work for one person could be good for someone else. The biggest gripe I have is the way he says you learn it by having “fun” (watching tv shows, listening to music, reading manga etc.). I don’t see how you can pick up a language without studying unless your possibly living in that country and in an immersive environment. Even then, there’s people that have lived in another country and can hardly speak the language. Also, unless your in Japan or living with Japanese people in your own country, you can’t make an immersive Japanese environment 24/7.Spain are missing something that they had in Euro 2008 and World Cup 2010. The absence of David Villa is playing a part. Del Bosque doesn’t feel confident with the Torres and Negredo so has opted for Fabregas to play in that role. Their playing extremely cautious too and not their usual free flowing attacking football. They have the chance to make history on Sunday which is also playing on their minds.
On Sunday we’ll either see the real Spain turn up or the cautious coy team that’s played so far. As for Italy, they have a chance. Balotelli could either be a hero or a zero with his antics.
I’m predicting Spain to win in a pen shootout.
