I’ve heard about AJATT and Khatzumoto before. After reading some reviews:

http://nihongoperapera.com/all-japanese-all-the-time-review.html
http://tabetaiii.wordpress.com/2011/05/20/1-spoon-for-just-a-dollar-ajatt-ss/Your either someone that will love it or hate it. Some people swear by it, others wouldn’t recommend it all. In my opinion, maybe some of his ideas work, but ultimately seems flawed. I have doubts about some of his claims too. For example, it’s pretty hard to create a Japanese immersive environment when your not in Japan. Also, I don’t see how you can learn Japanese by just having “fun”. For me, I want to know why the language is the way it is.
No worries. Glad I could help out if only a little. I agree, list 2 was harder to learn. Take your time with it. After the verbs you’ll start learning な adjectives and い adjectives in season 4. There’s alot of them but they are extremely useful. Good luck. If you need anymore help or have any questions, feel free to ask.
To send – Think of a courier. When you want to send a big heavy parcel you send it by courier. Associate おくり with courier.
To meet – When you meet someone for the first time, you usually introduce yourself and say “I’m….”. Associate あい with I’m or I am. Then think of “I’m/I am…. Nice to meet you”.
To wait – Imagine your in line for a sports match (eg. baseball, basketball, soccer, football etc.), and the line is taking ages to move. Think of how impatient your getting waiting for the line to move so you can get into the stadium. Associate まち with match.
To listen – Imagine your a martial artist and your training alone in a gym. Your kicking the punch bag and it echoes around the room. Your kicks sound hard and brutal. Associate きき with kick kick.
The other ones I couldn’t think of a mnemonic for and just learned them straight up. If I do think of any more mnemonics, I’ll post them here.
What ones are you having difficulty with? I’ll try and remember the mnemonics I used and share them with you. Might not work but it’s worth a shot.
Interesting points everyone raises. I’m still learning Kanji here on TF but am looking into other methods. I took the plunge and signed up to the WaniKani alpha. Haven’t been on it much, but from what I’ve seen, it looks very impressive. Nice clear layout, lots of info, etc.
At the moment for me, It’s looking like a toss up between WaniKani and the core series on iKnow.

Your welcome, and yes, I love both Kanji and Sakamoto. He’s a great musician. See you around on the forums.Pretty suprised Italy got the win. Not saying they didn’t deserve it but Germany have been on fire. It’s a mystery how they stumble at the last hurdle every time. I think they could of beaten Spain on Sunday. With players like Podolski, Muller, Schweinsteiger, Ozil and Lahm, in their team, they are underacheiving. Credit to Italy and Balotelli. At least tonight’s game was open and both teams wanted to win in the 90 mins unlike England vs. Italy where England were playing for the shootout.
I think Italy will beat Spain on Sunday. Spain have been average this tournament and if they don’t step their game up, they will get a hiding.
Hello and welcome to the forums
I made up my own mnemonics for the verbs. To eat and to drink were easy as I had already learned たべもの (food) and のみもの (drink). You could try thinking of mnemonics again or just going through the list on anki every hour or so and drilling them in that way.
The more outrageous or bizzare the mnemonic, the easier it will be for you to remember.
Hello and welcome to TF. You’ve come to the right place to learn Japanese. As your already living there, you have an advantage in picking up the spoken and written language quicker due to being in an immersive environment. You say you’ve been in Tokyo for four years and still a beginner, that’s not uncommon.
From reading your reasons you seem like you want to change that and are fully motivated and commited to learning the language now. Good luck with your studying and feel free to ask any questions here on the forum.
That’s Spain in the Final. Pretty exciting game from what I saw. Ronaldo should of taken a pen in the shootout. Your best players should always step up first to take a pen, or you might be in a situation where it backfires like it did for Portugal tonight. We’ll never know if Ronaldo could of made a difference. Roll on tomorrow Germany vs. Italy.
Just wrapped up い adjectives. Going to start the next chapter たい form verbs tomorrow.
Still a classic :D
That was pretty funny missing, but this is funnier:

That’s Keisuke Honda (本田 圭佑). He plays in the Russian league for CSKA Moscow. He’s a fantastic player. Just need him to move to a better team and league. -
