Depends on what you need to do really. If you’re heavily into graphic design, video editing, photoshop, etc. then I’d say Mac is the better option. If you just want to surf the net, download stuff, use word processing etc. then I reckon a PC is a better option. Plus, if you build your own pc you can choose all the parts and assemble a better machine than buying one from say Dell or HP. You’ll probably end up saving money too.
As for the OS, I don’t really have much experience using Mac OS apart from a few times on my sisters Macbook pro. I’ve been using Windows ever since Windows 95 so I have alot more experience with that. Currently using Windows 7 and will upgrade to Windows 8 later this year.
Hey Buggie. Welcome to TF :) . It’s great you’ve been to Japan already and have had an interest since you were little. Don’t hesitate to ask questions on the forum, and good luck with learning Japanese.
Thanks alot iso. Will definitely make use of these resources. :)
Haha, I ate Chocolate too. Did some Japanese earlier and listened to music. Football (Soccer) also been on today and followed that too.
The first part of iso’s post had me in stitches lol. Can totally relate to what he’s talking about. As for the topic, I’d imagine alot of Yakuza use slang.
@ iso
Just sent you an email. My email address is osakajin8@gmail.com . I’ll definitely try moshi moshi and e-kagen when I’m next in Brighton.Anyone else is free to email me too. Love talking about Japanese and Japan with people :D
Hey ptoast. Welcome to TF :). Good luck with learning Japanese.
As Easter is a Christian holiday, it’s acknowledged by the Japanese but they don’t celebrate it. It’s the same deal with Christmas. There’s no public holiday for either day. Westeners living in Japan probably celebrate it though.

Thanks Mark. Will look into that. It wasn’t so much the content of the emails were spam from Jpod and Chinesepod. It was just the amount of emails they sent a day. I’m not keen on their agressive tactics to try and get you to pay for a membership. If Jpod had offered a lifetime membership I probably would of bought it a) for the value and b) to stop the amount of emails they were sending. I’m not keen on a monthly membership as I’m not sure when I plan to use it and don’t really want to feel like I’m wasting money.
@ Daniel
JA Sensei is free on Android. There is no paid for version as far as I’m aware. It’s a great app. I included it in the thread you made.Hey Susan. Welcome to TF. Good luck with learning Japanese and have fun on your trip there :)
@ Mosen
I live in West Sussex. I’ve been to Brighton a few times as one of my sisters lives there. There’s another person on TextFugu who also lives in Brighton. His name is isocracy. Check out this thread http://www.textfugu.com/bb/topic/listening-practice/
Free Android apps I’ve used:
Also, I highly recommned downloading Go Keyboard and using it instead of your stock Android keyboard. You can download the Japanese keyboard plugin and easily switch between English/other languages and Japanese at the click of a button.

Haha I know what you mean. I made a free account for Japanesepod101 as well as Chinesepod. I don’t think the two are run by the same company but they both email you like crazy to get you to pay for a membership. If Jpod offered a lifetime membership like TextFugu do, I may well have bought it.

Still don’t really know what an Oshi is or means but thanks anyway. Guess I’ll find out as I explore the culture more deeper. :) -
