That’s really helpful, thanks. :D
Earlier I met this Japanese girl on a game I play and before I left I said “友達?” – trying to ask if she wanted to be friends/if we could add each other on our friends lists. She went “?” so I went “ともだち” and then she said in Japanese (according to Google Translate) that she couldn’t understand my Japanese because it was too poor.
So, how do you actually ask somebody if they want to be friends in Japanese?
Nice introduction, you seem very motivated and keen which is always a good sign.
Welcome to TextFugu, Nico and good luck learning Japanese!
Rush hour is crazy in London but not as crazy as Tokyo. You’re not packed like sardines in the trains to the extent of Tokyo but you do feel suffocated and squashed. You are constantly pushed and you have to be really assertive with yourself to get to your destination. It’s not a pleasant experience either, once I was squashed up against somebody’s armpit and the most I could do was move my nose to the side with the side of my head against it. *shivers*
I don’t travel to London much but that was a few years ago. I can imagine it mustn’t be as bad in Tokyo with regards to hygiene – in my experience a lot of people in London either practice poor hygiene or have B.O.
My Japanese tutor is really cute and funny. She’s always so happy and bubbly – it brightens up my day. My Mum thinks that she’s hilarious and adores her.
Hashi seems to be spot on.
Made ichigo daifuku yet?
That green tea mochi ice cream looks lush. おいしい!
おめでとうございます!That is actually really awesome, quite lucky of you to be chosen as well.
Will there be anywhere where us people not living in Japan can see it?
That sounds great, I wish I could take something like that but I’m already really grateful and lucky to have my Japanese tutor who helps me immensely. Good luck, work hard!

If you make some ichigo daifuku then send it to me, I’ll love you forever.
Tom: Definitely watch Amagami SS+ plus when you can, I find it even better than Amagami SS and adds a great ending to each arc. Ai has the most interesting arc (in my opinion) but Haruka’s won me over with the last 5-10 minutes.
Yuna: Call me whichever, I don’t mind. I’m better known as Kaona in the Japanese learning communities though.
Tom: Yeah, I liked Amagami SS but I loved Amagami SS+ plus as it gave all of the arcs a better ending (especially with Rihoko’s) and made me able to make up my mind between whether Haruka, Kaoru, Ai or Tsukasa’s arc was my favourite and it ended up being Haruka’s.

I’m Abbie, I’m 15 and I’m a British girl living in north east England. I want my name legally changed to Winter. When I leave School I’m dying my hair cotton candy pink and getting snakebites. I currently have my ears pierced and a nose piercing. When I leave School I want to study Japanese, Sociology and Travel & Tourism at college then get a Bachelor’s Degree in Japanese at university. I love anime and manga, particularly Shugo Chara!, Angel Beats!, Death Note, Jigoku Shoujo, Amagami SS and Naruto. I love blogs, Hello Kitty, Pepsi, punk/rock stuff, dancing, RuneScape, sleeping, learning Japanese, Japanese fashion, eyeliner, dying my hair bright colours, nose piercings, lip piercings, all things dark and mysterious, talking about myself and other things.
I’ve also been learning Japanese for about 2 years now and have a native Japanese tutor who I meet up with every Wednesday for 1 hour.
North Yorkshire, north east region of England.
I hate to admit it but I think iKnow is a really useful tool for learning vocab. I’m currently using my 5 free study sessions through the Core 1000. I doubt I’ll be able to afford paying my Mum for the £8 (1000 yen) a month though but if I tell her it’s for Japanese vocab and even show her how useful it is I might manage to get her to pay for it. ;o
I’ll still be using my trusted Anki for reviewing what I learned at my Japanese tutor’s house though.
