Thanks Cassandra.

I have chosen Japanese because it was looking fascinating, and new. Learning “West European” languages was not much fun, because I had to, and also because they are too similar. I wanted to learn something different. At one point (during college) I was undecided between Japanese and Russian. But my appreciation for the Japanese culture outgrew Russian by a lot.

Hopefully I will become decent in Japanese soon :)
