Welcome.
Feels good crossing the line between maybe-someday to actually doing the thing – no matter what.
If you are already at the end of chapter 2 you have either been here some time or you are storming through, good work either way.
I had similar nervousness when it came to learning kanji.I have been practicing japanes for two weeks, and started kanji this week using https://www.wanikani.com/
Its beta access for (i think) level 1-2 (check front-page). It made kanji learning a lot less daunting.Another thing that helped me out with Kanji was activating the japanese-writing simulation in Microsoft IME.
This site has lots of good information on learning and focus that applies outside Japanese learning.
Hope you have a good experience.I downloaded anki.2.0.22 it from http://ankisrs.net/.
The installer added a folder called called locale that had language folder for many languages, Norwegian was just one of them. I have windows 7 US and English menus and I changed both the language and region to US without it changing Ankis preference for Norwegian. By deleting the locale folder it sorted itself out.
I thought there must be a more elegant solution, but I have not found one yet.
I may also be one of few that has this problem, and I found a hack job solution. Its pretty cool that there is grammatical and pronunciation similarities in Spanish and Japanese. It seems you are pretty efficient in Language learning already. Hope you enjoy the journey:)
Good day.
I also just arrived, but still, welcome:)
Getting into Japanese music is probably a good idea, that was a big part of going from only understanding Norwegian to getting English.
Hope you enjoy your stay.Lykke til^^
Thank you for the additional support.
I am interested in brain functions and regions, language processing in particular. About to finish bachelor in cognitive science/computer linguistics. I Have had a bit of cognitive psychology classes, and your course hits spot on when it comes to long term learning (spaced repetition/association/dedicated learning place/routines/memory overload/memory curve/willpower recourse-allocation) and the importance of having a motivated foundation.
I also dig how the course is set up for us to get a well founded start to learning Japanese outside the course.
Thanks for the followup and recourse links. The Anki Card support is great.
The ability to re-play audio in Anki (R button?) and record own voice(Shift+V) is fantastic:)
Will post to the forums when I complete Chapter 2:)Peace!
Good day Mari.
Conflicting rules being broken all over the place:) You have been here longer than me, so its a bit strange to welcome you, but welcome^^
I am studying it because I have an interest in the language, sadly I know very little of the culture and people, but knowing the language will perhaps make that more accessible. Im from Norway, so we have similar starting points language-family wise.Have a good vacation, If you would like to tell, Id love to hear how it was:)
