Well, I winged my finals Thursday in hopes of passing and got B’s, which goes to show that paying no attention and doing everything last minute really does pay off :P. I moved to a new state yesterday and have been cleaning up and settling in all day today. Tuesday I have a job interview that I hope goes well.

Since, I wont be returning to school next semester I will have all Spring/ Summer to put a huge focus on Japanese studying :D.

@missing – Good luck with getting a girl, is she.. Japanese?! :O

@Mister – I actually have 星のカービィ:スーパーデラックス (Kirby Superstar Saga). Also, the GameBoy player for the GameCube is the coolest add-on ever. <3 Maybe you should fly on over to Central Missouri, USA and I can show you what the SNES is all about :D

@Mister – Now you’ve done it! Don’t get me started on Nintendos :P. Actually my first memory of any gaming system was the NES my older brother had (mostly putting the orange gun to the screen to cheat in Duck Hunt), my family had entirely skipped SNES and I had an N64. Now, don’t get me wrong, I love the N64. My younger brother and I spent most of our childhood conquering games together. But now that I’m older I have a SNES and the variety, quality, and difficulty offered for the SNES is far greater than that of the N64. Sure N64 has some really REALLY awesome games, but compared to the SNES, not even close. Especially now that I am revisiting and re-playing a lot of things on the N64 I had in my childhood and looking at them I’ve often found myself thinking “WTF, why did I think this game was good/cool?”. The N64 for the most part had really goofy, early stages of 3D graphics and they looked terrible (clearly there are a few exceptions), and aside from the big hits they often seem to be quite short as well. Not to mention there are SO MANY foreign games for the SNES that are awesome that I can’t even touch right now (come on Japanese learning!).

My fondest video game memories are of the N64, GameBoy, GameCube. It wasn’t until later in life that I discovered what a foolish mistake my family made by skipping the SNES. :P

    >come join me in my oldies corner over here… I have cats, knitting and cocoa. We can moan about the ‘youth of today’ and make scarves or something.

I have a cat, I also knit, occasionally drink me some cocoa, and definitely complain about my “peers” so count me in. (And I’m only 22 XD)

    >do you remember the game show legends of the hidden temple?

Silver Snakes, I always wanted them to win, or the Blue Barracudas (because they had the coolest colors/animals). I always wanted to be on it not just because it seemed really easy to win but because I hated the temple guardians and wanted to punch them, that’ll teach them to jump out, scare me, and ruin my chances of winning.

ALSO: N64 can’t hold a candle to the SNES, just saying.

It has really steered my diet in a healthier direction, not to mention it saves me money I used to waste on junkfood. Plus all of the recipes in Just Bento are fairly quick and easy to execute, so I don’t have to worry about wasting a lot of time and energy on meals when I could be doing other things. It has definitely paid for itself many times over, and I only purchased it in October. I would definitely recommend it!

I bought the “Just Bento Cookbook” by Makiko Ito and it is the best thing ever. I seriously make something from it every day. I want to get in to making hot pots soon so I hope I get the zojirushi electric skillet I want for Christmas. I made some Curry at home with this block of curry flavor from the Japanese section at Wal*Mart, it was pretty okay except that the cheap meat came out all chewy :X

Also this was my first try at some sushi at home : http://tinyurl.com/3daljgt – salmon and cucumber (the yellow things are nori tamagoyaki)

Or if your parents will let you, you can ask local restaurants if you can wash dishes/ bus tables to get paid ‘under the table’. I used to deliver Chinese food/ answer the phones for orders when I was 15/16. Their English wasn’t so great and they didn’t know the town very well so it was a huge help for them, and convenient for me. Just be sure to keep track of what you are getting paid so you’re still profiting.

-Bake sale sort of thing? Or something else that you make and could sell (crafts, etc).
-Paper Route (a 15 year old can do this at least where I’m from).
-Get into scouring thrift/ antique stores for rare or vintage things you can sell on eBay (I’ve made over $300 from selling Frankoma pottery on eBay). Works for clothes too (Members Only jackets for example), and video game/ Nintendo things you just have to be willing to do the research to find out what’s valuable and what isn’t.
    -Scrapping metal

Is there anything you are particularly interested in doing?

Update, thank you everyone for your kind gestures!

Unfortunately, some undeserving other knitters got to win all the cute Japanese things. Sigh, not that any of it would be something I’d personally choose, but I still would have wanted it anyway.
If you’re curious as to what the prizes were, see it here -> http://mochimochiland.com/2011/12/photo-contest-11-winners/

Also, I think TextFugu/Tofugu should maybe have some contests… nothing is more motivating than a winning title and free stuff ;P Maybe a fan art one for Christmas, so that everyone can participate/ not be limited by their skill level?

Been super busy with moving to a new state/ studying for finals/ doubling my hours at work (excuses :P). So I haven’t been advancing as much on Textfugu, although I was introduced to readthekanji.com about a week ago and have been doing 150 (or more if I get distracted with doing good at it) everyday. As well as keeping up with Anki daily. Looking forward to ordering the Sentence Patterns book soon.
And with the move and finals (and school) being over by next Friday, I’m really looking forward to focusing more time/ energy on Japanese :].

Haha no, I think the prize is like cute Japanese folders and other little “kawaii~~~” trinkets, with a gift certificate for some online yarn store.

Anyway, it’s a close battle!! I hope I can just barely skirt in the top 10, Thank you so much everyone!

OH and voting is open all weekend :D
