Welcome!
Starting out should be a breeze with your prior experience.
こんばんわ、ようこそ きみこ/Jacqueline !
That’s pretty awesome that your high school had Japanese, the best mine had was an anime/manga after school club. I’m also super motivated about the language all together, I love it! I just finished season 2 myself, so I’m about to start on Katakana. :D
Anyway, I hope you enjoy your time here.
またね!
I was actually eyeing that game myself I had watched a could videos on youtube. It looks really fun/ useful. It’s good to know that an actual tutor is using it for practice, and that it is also enjoyable for the student as well.
Thank you, Kaona!
Elenkis – I realize now that Kanji Sonomama is just a dictionary. (;>.<) I'm in search of actual games that "just so happen to be in Japanese". Or word games/ games created for younger Japanese natives to practice on. My apologies!
As far as finding those games though I found a couple of sellers on eBay with tons of choices and fair prices (excluding shipping, I didn't check, sorry).

http://stores.ebay.com/play-japanI think I've got it covered, thank you everybody!
Finished the last “real” Chapter of season 2 last night. Going to do some of my own review today via Anki and some handwriting (I really like handwriting). Perhaps maybe treat myself to an episode of un-subbed anime to see how much I can pick up (because that is fun for me).
I shall tackle the review chapter tomorrow! I’m feeling pretty good about this :D
Oh, that makes sense, I had just began Season 2 around that time, I never noticed the difference. (>.<;)
Thank you, irmoony & Mark !HOLA amigo.
I feel a similar discomfort in Koichi’s looks. Not that it’s crazy, but because it eerily parallel’s that of my older brother. I mean do you ever see people around and think “holy crap you look just like (so and so)! Where the heck is my twin in this world?!?” Well Koichi’s is my brother.. and sometimes it is awkward.
Anyway, I kick the congratulatory figuratively-speaking-dirt in your face! Welcome!
I personally prefer Nintendo as the systems I have are Super, 64, GC, GB and DS Lite. I have the Japanese version of Kirby Super Star for SuperFamicom (which was actually super cheap on eBay.. like $5 shipped or something) And will work on USDM SNES if you clip 2 little tabs on the inside where you insert the cartridge. I see Super Famiocom games in used game stores for fair prices sometimes (5$-20$ depending on how rare/cool/good the game was). I was just looking for something for my handheld system that wasn’t going to cost a bunch. I don’t mind waiting because that just gives my Japanese more time to improve upon itself (the ultimate goal here XD).
I am not opposed to computer games, but the only thing I have other than internet access on work computers is my netbook. Its cheap, tiny, and probably not the best gaming platform, and I am not particularly intersted in testing it’s ability.
Anyway, I really appreciate the info! :D
~~~~~EDIT
Found someplace interesting..
http://www.whiterabbitpress.com <— Anyone had experience/ heard of this place?As far as DS games are concerend they are the cheapest for "New" at 54.50 for both Kanji Sonomama Rakubiki Jiten and Tadashii Kanji Kakitori-kun – Kanken Taisaku, I created a cart and as far as Central Missouri (and probably the entire Midwest shipping zone) the rates are as follows:
2-4 weeks (no tracking number): $4.00
About 1 week (no tracking number): $6.80
EMS 3-5 days (tracking number): $14.12Not so bad, even if you choose the 1 week option the price is still considerably (about $10) lower than what I've seen recently on eBay/ Amazon. They also had some other Japanese DS games I haven't heard of yet for ranging from $42-$48. Their clean and appealing site as well as being able to use PayPal is enough for me to trust them. Not to mention it's in English, for those of you not able/ willing to use Rikaichan/kun.
I hope this information is helpful!
Thank you so much everyone, I appreciate the help! I don’t think BK1 will be too terrible to navigate. So now I feel that I’ve got books/ manga covered.
But I guess games are a different story? I suppose I’ll just stick to scouring eBay… Maybe some gamer forums would have more insight or resources as how to get a fairly priced jdm video game…?I just finished up これ、それ、あれ、 & なん / なに. As well as the 50 vocab (theres probably about 10 I’m still unsure on though) and just started on the first set of 3 stroke Kanji/Kanji Radicals. Although I found out how to sync up my Anki decks online/ with my phone, so I can pretty much study whenever I’m “bored”!
This evening: Season 2: Chapter 9
Unanticipated update~
What seemed to be an ordinary sticker order turned out to be a blessing from the Textfugu Gods. The elusive (and possibly holographic in pokemon terms) Red puffer fish. ~screeeeeee!
どうもありがとうこういちせんせい!
I want one of the red guy…
How many kittens must I ship Koichi in order to obtain this sticker ?
Hashi – I appreciate that, although I am already scarred. >.<
^^ If that isn’t inspirational, I don’t know what is!
