http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PluFW_p0NJMHaving a JR pass is definitely worth it as you can use the trains to get to just about wherever you want to go. I was in Uji (just south of Kyoto) for about a month this summer for a school trip. We definitely got a temple/shrine overdose, so I would say go to one of each or just the most famous ones. We only went to Tokyo for 2 days, so I definitely feel we didn’t see too much of it. Akihabara was a trip, especially if you’re into pop culture. For sure try to get some maps in English for the stations/subway/downtown areas. The streets can also be pretty confusing, some of them aren’t even named. If you can get your host family to come with you that would be great so you don’t get lost. Good luck! Remember to bring a gift for your host family; I brought mine graham crackers since they don’t have them in Japan =)
1. That’s why/because
2. shook hands with papa
3. “nice to meet you”, literally, “it is the first time” so you use it when you first meet someone
4. “That’s why I shook hands with papa. Nice to meet you papa”
gotta love babies with a good sense of humor =)

this one was tough, especially cause I’m bad with kanji xD
1. at this time
2. new shoes got wet
3. took care
4. even though
5. it puts focus on the verb and what the verb is modifying?
6. I think it says something like “Even now Dad is taking care of his shoes that got wet”?
I thought よく meant “often”?
Like, よくすしを食べます。
Here’s something I keep forgetting, cause it’s kinda weird.
How do you say “How do you say” in Japanese?
Like if I wanted to ask in Japanese, “How do you say ‘bicycle’ in Japanese?”
Obviously ‘bicycle’ would be in English.
If I remember correctly there are 2 ways to say it.
