I decided for my mid-life crisis I would learn Japanese. It was cheaper than finding a younger boyfriend and less stressful on my kids. ;) Actually, I have done enough formal schooling to earn an undergraduate and graduate degree in writing and could not bear the thought of sitting through more classes. I want to be able to translate books between Japanese and English, so I want to be fluent. Since taking time off from my career to be around for the kids, I thought I could learn Japanese on my own time to get that translation ball rolling, so here I am.
