Yippy, you are not Caucasian? This is just from what I heard but I think as long as you are an English native speaker, then you should be alright most of the time. Depends on where you teach English though, though it seems to be the same for both university and/or 英会話; its just that if you want to teach at a university, should get that MA degree.

Actually now that you mention it, as annoying as it seems, I respect people who want to take the effort to learn Japanese because of anime. My older sister, who has been watching anime for a big portion of her life, never occurred to her to take it upon herself to learn Japanese. And I would always think “Why not? if you like it THAT much, can’t you enjoy even more if you tried to learn Japanese?”. So like even though they are still mad annoying in Japanese classes, I would give them the least amount of credit for even thinking of learning Japanese. The rest though, like how they conduct themselves or how well they actually do in the language is another matter.

record your voice on audioboo then link that to a lang 8 journal
you will still have an accent no matter what but of course that doesnt mean you cant imitate the way a japanese person speaks nearly perfect
you should try to just find some easy audio and try copying it exactly as much as possible. record yourself then compare that to the native audio. repeat
anime as lerning material = good
anime as good motivator = debatable
wheter you like animes doesnt matter
