Not exactly sure but here’s my guess: “I corrected your Japanese with the utmost respect (?). Do you maybe want to use 「～だ」(more often?)? It’s natural for anyone to want to use newly learned words and expressions.”
First sentence, really not sure about it – he could be commenting on the respectfulness of the language you used (instead of what I said above). Second sentence, a little more sure about. Third sentence, pretty sure that’s what they mean.
That’s really not that helpful but just wait though, Joel will swoop in and correct me and make it all better, I know it :P

曲 isn’t a counter and 一曲 is a noun.
を is for the direct object (the thing the verb is done to). Particles can be dropped in certain places in more casual speech, the rules regarding their inclusion and positioning are more flexible.

In the course of looking into using sentence decks, I stumble across this thread I made more than two years ago on the same topic XD It’s the first result on Google for “AJATT sentence pack”, ahead of the AJATT site itself for some reason. Kinda wish I’d tried making sentence decks then – could have had a fair few by now. Still not finished Core 6k though ¬_¬ Definitely wish I’d been more active with that too XD

Notice how the first person to reply is Koichi. I don’t think he was *massively* active at that point but it’s still more so than today. Think that was around the time his presence was starting to get less and less.

@Aikibujin: Do you not think watching the same episode over and over would get boring after a while? I couldn’t even do that with shows *in English* that I know I really like :P
@Mark: Thanks for that link, that’s awesome! I would have had a better look for something like that myself but I’ve been so busy with uni work recently (stayed up all last night through to today getting a project done for; it’s 9pm now so I’m pretty exhausted haha).
That’s a cool method for scoping out words. What language is that script in? I’m a computer science major but I’ve no idea how to even run it o_o That project I was working on was an Android App in Java; I have a bit more experience with that than scripting languages (though not much).

Not sure how comprehensive it is but I’m guessing it’s a good start.
I’ve actually got 電車男 with Japanese subtitles already. I’ve only watched half an hour-long episode so far and I reeeally struggled >.< I literally had to pause the video on every subtitle, which made it feel less like watching a tv show and more like just reading a script… There were a few words I didn’t know but I think it was mostly the grammar and slang expressions/conjugations/sentence structures that made it so impenetrable. I’ll hopefully go back and watch some more once I’m off for xmas but the sheer difficulty doesn’t inspire too much motivation :P That’s why I kinda wanted something involving Perfume because I know I actually like them and I’m guessing they might keep me watching/listening.
Last night I actually discovered there’s a radio show on Tokyo FM (maybe?) every Thursday for about 20 minutes called “Perfume LOCKS!” (yes, with an L). The good news is: they provide transcripts! The bad news is: obviously the transcripts can’t be released until the shows are over; I’ve no idea where I can listen to past shows so not sure if I can read the script and listen at the same time.
Do you think it’d be a good idea to comb song lyrics for new vocab to add to Anki (once I’m done with Core6k, anyway)? Sometimes word choice and grammar in songs can be kinda weird; how would I go about determining whether a certain word is common or not? Some seemingly common words don’t always have a “common words” tag on jisho.org.

Also, I don’t really use Skype that often (if ever) – after the craze of using MSN Messenger in high school, I kinda migrated over to Facebook chat instead :P I really liked MSN/Windows Live Messenger but everyone else stopped using it so I had to as well.
I just meant that you don’t *know* whether you’ve passed N3 or not but sound certain you’ll be doing N2 when it comes around. I have every faith that you *will* pass though, don’t get me wrong. I doubt I’d even be able to do N3 in 6 months, my listening skills are that bad.
I really want to improve my listening but it’s not easy. I thought I’d take a leaf out of your book, how you’re always watching AKBingo and related AKB48 stuff… at least I think you do haha. Since I really like the group Perfume, I thought I’d look to see if they have any similar shows; there was something called “Perfume Chandelier House”, but because I understood so little of it (and it seemed a bit cheesy), it didn’t provide the boost in motivation I’d hoped for. If you have any other suggestions (though preferably not including AKB48), I’m all ears :D
Multiple conjugations always tend to throw me off too, especially those involving ～たい, like 食べたくなかった. Also, getting confused between ～なった（なる）and ～なかった（ない）is really frustrating too, like 早くなった which my brain just fails to read properly :P

Or so you think ;)Yeah, I think 「かれは わるかった と おもくなかった。」is more like “At some point in the past, I had the thought that he was mean at some *further* point in the past, longer ago than I actually had the thought”. That probably seems a convoluted explanation but it’s just that – as far as I know – English doesn’t have such a succinct equivalent. Simply saying “I thought he was mean” could suggest he was mean at the same time as you were having the thought OR that he was mean *before* you had the thought (but maybe not at the time you had the thought; maybe he’d changed his ways by that point).
I doubt it would be that common a construction, so just take Tsetycoon13′s advice :)
The key to it is knowing Japanese doesn’t use the exact same ‘h’ and ‘f’ sounds we’re used to in English. ‘h’ has more of a “hiss” to it as it’s formed in the mouth a slightly different way, and ‘f’ doesn’t involve the teeth at all.

I wonder… can anyone guess the song that’s from without looking it up? To be fair, I probably couldn’t even though I’ve heard it a million times :P It’s from a pretty famous* group, nothing too obscure.
*maybe not AKB48 famous but they’ve had 4 no.1 albums so far (didn’t realise how popular they were till I learned that fact the other day).
