Puns are always funny.
It’s understandable seeing as the forum doesn’t have a built-in search function. But you can still search the site by going to Google and entering “site:textfugu.com/bb/ [space] [searchtermhere]” :) Comes in handy sometimes.
God, this question has been asked so often XD See kanjiman8′s link for a list I compiled of all the threads pertaining to it.
I’ll call it フレンズ. Just need to find 3 girls that live nearby… And a coffee shop.
When he says “srs” I think http://i.qkme.me/369ypk.jpg

I wouldn’t mind trying a standing desk, but I just don’t have the room or the money >.<A wild “Quote” button appeared! Snuck its way in like a ninja while I was typing that last comment :D
I wouldn’t mind trying a standing desk, but I just don’t have the room or the money >.<
Reading my shiny new Hyrule Historia book, I’m realising just how many words I don’t know >.< Can't wait to finish Core6k :D
Just as a side note, I'm moving in with 2 guys in September for Uni and they are both learning Japanese too! :D The first guy started around December I think, and just recently finished RTK; the other has just finished learning hiragana. Will be quite cool having 3 learners all under one roof haha :D Sounds like some kind of sitcom…
@Bbvoncrumb: My deadline for replies is 1 month, so luckily you just made it. m8, you are/were the cheekiest knt around here m8, so like dnt evn start, ye hear me m8?
*Resets timer to 1 month*
As long as it’s not having some kind of negative impact on your exercising, I don’t see why not.
@jkl: Does it not get tiring, standing all the time? :D Or do you alternate between standing and sitting?
@Yggbert: I think at that point, it would be best to start sentence mining. Or maybe you could just “pick up words as you go” through reading native material, but I don’t know how easy or hard that would be after 6000 since I’m not even *nearly* there yet. Good luck with finishing Core6k by the end of the year :D Hopefully I can get to that stage too, but we’ll see what happens once Uni starts again; don’t think I’ll be able to go fast enough to get 4000 done in… 6 months or so? That would work out to… 22.2/day roughly, so yeah, definitely won’t be able to do that :P Even over the Summer I don’t think I’ll be able to keep that pace – reviews pile up too fast :/
Another thing that’ll hinder me is the fact that so many of the words in these 4000 I won’t have covered before. Before Core2k, I’d learned a lot through TF’s Ultimate decks, so even though there were 2000 cards to go through, I could go quickly since I knew a large % of the words already.
I’ve heard a slight w sound in it at times. Not sure if it’s maybe do with the kana it comes after or just the speaker’s accent though. The more you listen, the more you’ll get a feel for it. Such a big part of language learning is getting “a feel for” – or getting “used to” – the ways natives speak and the ways the language is used. Perfectly reasonable to ask questions, obviously, but it’s just something you’ll get a much better answer to over time.
Yeah, I’m talking old style here haha. Back when it was just Core 2000 (first 2000 words) and Core 6000 (the other 4000 words). As for the thing about 3000 words, there’s no way you could read “most” texts without a dictionary at that point; I don’t know where they are getting that from :D
OT: I started on the first 20 words in Core6k last night, and *boy* is it boring ¬_¬ I’m sure the words will get a little more useful as I move on, but at the start it’s all politics and business – still worth knowing, but just… boring nonetheless :P
Maybe try looking up example sentences here: http://www.alc.co.jp/ (just type in the box and hit enter). Usually a much wider variety, lots of idioms and such.
