    I had a lot of trouble with my passion list too. I think my main problem was over thinking it. Which I tend to do a lot! I feel that may be part of your problem. Remember that you are still in the beginning stage and the sentences you might want to make might not be possible right now based on what you haven’t learned yet. Try not too jump too far ahead of yourself. Also try to think of more nouns than anything for your list. (Maybe more objects than anything) So bible would be a good one, you could even use Jesus Christ. You’re using these nouns in the future to help you to make sentences. Then you’ll build on that to make more complicated sentences.

    1. Jesus Christ -> iesu kirisuto -> いえすきりすと(Hiragana)-> イエスキリスト (Katakana)
    2. Bible -> baiburu -> ばいぶる (Hiragana)-> バイブル (Katakana)

    Hope This helped you in anyway! Good luck!

    I agree with Catherine, Writing the Hiragana helped with memorization (or I should say recognition) for me. You might be feeling a little overwhelmed. Take a minute to learn hiragana. The thing that you should keep in mind is that you should recognize the hiragana letters first and then learn to write them. But don’t memorize the whole alphabet then move on to writing. Learn the first column then learn how to write them. Learning how to write them after learning how to read them solidifies everything. And gives you a better grip on things. I think!

    For memorizing/recognition:
    Use the downloadable Hiragana42 ebook that you can download for free on here. If you go to the dashboard (Home page) and scroll down you should see it. Go through that and that should help you tremendously with recognition. So that you remember that あ->A、い->I、う->U、え->E、お->O It did for me, I had a horrible time remembering them before using this.

    For writing help:
    I also used this website for stroke order, this shows you how to write them. Since there is a specific way. (http://www.easyjapanese.org/write_hiragana.html ) Take your time and work with just one column at a time. So start off with just the simple vowels, a, i, u, e, o, (あ、い、う、え、お)and work your way through.

    Hoped this helped you! and Good luck!
