Exactly why I want to learn. I feel like I’d get so much more out of it if I could understand at least a little Japanese. For me, it’d probably be a once in a lifetime, never gonna happen again sort of holidays… so I want to do it right!
Hi Robert!
Those are all great reasons for joining, and very similar to why I am here too! Do you have plans to visit Japan at any point?Hope you like the site, it’s definitely good to have some guidance, and you can always drop by the forums for a little extra motivation if you need to. Good luck!
Hi Ethan! Awesome to see so many people joining this year… gotta love that lifetime membership sale!
Good luck with your studies! :DI swear nearly everyone is in a different timezone to me… it’s always dead when I have a look. Booo :(
I dunno, I kinda like the whole ‘new year, new start’ thing. I find it quite motivating.
I’m the kind of person who got excited about buying a new notepad today though…Oh and just to confirm, freshverse is working fine at the moment. Not sure what on earth I am watching right now (argh the colours! my eyes!!), but it’s good quality!
Yay! I’m in the middle of season 2 now… which is about where I expected to be by now. Have been taking a break for Christmas though, so now my anki reviews are scary :( 250 reviews to do today… oh dear.
wwitv.com – worth a look sometimes but not great selection.
So… 2012. Any Japanese themed resolutions?
This is going to be the year I do RTK. I’ve started… and as overwhelming as it seems, I’m sure it won’t take me all year.
It’s also going to be the year I try and get to JLP level 4. I figured aiming for level 5 wouldn’t be enough of a challenge for an entire year, so thought I’d push myself. No idea if it’s realistic, but hey.
Happy New Year! ^^
I’ll be kicking off 2012 as I mean to go on… getting lifetime Textfugu membership!
*puts on her nerdy learning hat* Bring it on.Well… I got book one for Christmas, so I’m intrigued now as to whether or not it will be a good thing for me. Had a flick through it, read the introduction and lesson 1, but going to start properly (including writing them, reviewing them etc) tomorrow.
So far though, I think it will be a way of learning that works well for me. I have a good memory, especially when it comes to mnemonics. I quite like how it is laid out and the overall theory behind it makes sense to me.I’ll post back here in a couple of weeks… we shall see.
One thing though… when doing RTK, would it be best to abandon all other forms of learning while I do it and just concentrate on nothing but kanji until I am done with it? Or is it best to combine a bit of RTK with my usual textfugu lessons/anki reviews etc? What did you guys find best?
Merry Christmas guys ^^
Hope you all have lovely pressies, stuff yourself silly on Christmas dinner and partake in far too much mulled wine!
Or is that just me? :P@Mister – and that’s Miss Robot, thankya kindly :P
Depends… right now, I’ve been dying to find some decent Japanese music. I know very few bands/singers that I didn’t discover through an anime opening/closing theme. I like threads like this… saves me wading through some awful bands and straight to good ones. Sometimes.
Oh, and inkeeping with the topic….
I adore this song. Ukeleles are full of win.
Yes they used it in a video of Maru. This makes more win. -
