I just try to make it more close to the ‘d’ sound than the r sound. Like the T in Water was a good example. Practice the “Ra” with focusing on a d sound, rather than an r
I took a Japanese course last spring semester and I compared it to TextFugu. I took the course before looking at TextFugu first though, but I came to the realization that the time I spent in the class (about 5 months, met twice a week though), I got WAY more out of TextFugu than the class. With my class though, we went slow because people didn’t do their homework and we had to slow down the pace :(. Tell me how your class progresses this year.
Material learned in 5 months in a college class = 1 month of TextFugu for me.
